Unfortunately we won’t be coming back to this hotel. It does have its positives but the amount of negatives outweigh them by some margin. 1. I felt very unsafe in my room as the room does not have a lock from the inside. There is a security at night but I don’t know him, i would like some kind of lock like in every normal hotel in the world. It’s useless saying you need a card and there is security. Most if not all the hotels have those and they still have a lock/chain on the door. 2. There is a toilet by the pool. I needed to use it and opened the door only to find a woman in there completely naked. I closed the door immediately and I thought she was a bit careless there by not having locked the bathroom door. Then i go in after she comes out and I apologise profusely, only to find out THERE IS NO LOCK on the toilet by the pool. None. People can just walk in while you are completely naked. Apparently they rely on a system where you check if the door is shut and that is enough. How stupid and reckless is this! It’s absolutely crazy. Unsafe and absolutely disgusting. I fear for the safety of fellow women. Women are not safe here. 3. Throughout my two weeks here, the security guard kept talking to us every time we would come back at night. It made us feel so uncomfortable. Big old guy cornering us girls every time we came in. It wasn’t just a hello. He was trying to have a full on conversation every night. I felt stalked and harassed and so did my friends. 4. The bottom of the pool is not clean. It’s not even up for interpretation. You can visibly see dirt and other remains throughout the pool at the bottom of it. If the owner disagrees perhaps he/she should put a current picture of the bottom of the pool so that the public can judge by themselves. Where is the basic sanitation! You should pay someone to hoover up the bottom. 5. As a lot of people here have said, the bathroom is so small. Tiny tiny tiny. The water glass stops well short of where it needs to be owing to space which means there is a puddle on the bathroom every time without fail. It’s just so small. Right next to it there is a big living room, you could have sacrificed a bit of that living space for more bathroom space. Shockingly bad design. 6. The owners or staff of the hotel sit at the pool and eat every day. You feel so uncomfortable and watched. There is a reason restaurant staff or hotel staff don’t eat alongside their guests at other places and especially nowhere in the west. Because it’s unprofessional. 7. There is only one cleaning staff so you can never time when room service will be in. So if you need to have your room serviced it will be between 10 and 3. 5 hours. This means you have to be out for 5 hours as who can really watch the cleaner cleaning while you sit there and have a coffee!! Or wait until she comes in and then you leave which could be up to 3 oclock wait. 8. They don’t replace the coffee. They have a coffee machine with capsules and when they run out, room service does not replace the coffee. This is absolutely crazy. Which noteworthy hotel does not replace coffee capsules. At the price you are paying here, it’s the minimum they can do. Maybe they will give coffee to you at reception but i wouldn’t put myself so low as to ask. You should provide it during room service. 9. There is a lot of everyday noise that comes in while you are trying to sleep. The hotel is not that well built when it comes to absorbing everyday noise. To give an example, when i go to sleep i can hear the upstairs toilet or people going up the stairs even if they aren’t speaking. Not great for a goods night sleep. 10. Hotel is not suitable for disabled people. No lift either. They have a disabled ramp. But you should have a look at it, it’s so funny. You would have to lift a wheelchair to put it on the ramp, only for you to go down and get stuck down as there is nowhere to go when you get down, as its only stairs. It’s comedic. Bottom line, i wouldn’t recommend this mom and pop run hotel as women are unsafe here.

Absolutely loved our stay at Meramaglia Hotel – we can't recommend it enough. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The apartment was spotless, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped – we especially appreciated the handy little fridge. The air conditioning was excellent, with units in both the bedroom and the living room, keeping us perfectly comfortable throughout our stay. The pool area was a true highlight – always clean, never crowded, and with fresh towels provided daily, labeled for your room. There was always a free sunbed to relax on, and the pool bar was fantastic, offering a wide variety of tasty food and refreshing drinks. The meals were delicious, but what really stood out was the incredible staff. Everyone was so welcoming and kind, making us feel truly at home. A very special thank you to Maria at the pool bar – her warm personality and attentive service made our evenings unforgettable. We’ll never forget how she remembered our regular order: Two beers and a lemon slushy :-) Breakfast was another high point – freshly made and thoughtfully organized. The system of pre-ordering the day before worked smoothly and helped minimize food waste, which we really appreciated. In short, our experience at Meramaglia Hotel was simply wonderful. The location is perfect too – just a short walk to the charming old town. We’d return in a heartbeat!

We liked almost everything about our stay. Although Malia is known as a party destination, the hotel is located in a quiet and peaceful area, which made it very relaxing, while still being close enough to easily reach everything. It’s also near the old town, where you can find many authentic Greek restaurants. The staff deserve a special mention — they were truly wonderful, always friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring about their guests. They made us feel welcome from the very beginning and were always ready to help with anything we needed, which really made a difference in our stay. The hotel is also perfect for families with babies and small children. The pool area includes a kids’ zone, the outdoor kitchen has a highchair available, and cots can be provided in the rooms upon request. The sunbeds around the pool are also fantastic — very comfortable and perfect for relaxing. The room was spacious and clean, and we also enjoyed the outdoor gym and the convenience of the large parking lot.

Vacanze salvate!
