We have been visiting Two Spoons every summer since 2020, and up until now our experiences have been very positive. However, today’s visit (around 3:00 PM, after a boat trip) was rather disappointing. The polite waiter informed us that desserts are not served before 5:00 PM. We asked to see the menu so that we could decide if one of us should come back later for takeaway, since we noticed there was no display counter anymore. Unexpectedly, the (probably) owner or manager came out from the kitchen and, with an unnecessarily admonishing tone, repeated that the kitchen is closed until 05:00 PM and that he’s not sure if he will serve takeaway because “it depends on how busy” he is at that time. They might want to update their Google information (at least the opening hours) and remember that a little more politeness and a little less arrogance goes a long way in keeping customers happy. As we say in my village… better not to “let it get to your head.” The coffee we had was just average. The 3-star rating mainly reflects our positive experiences since 2020, not today’s visit.
Update after owner’s reply:
Thank you for responding, but once again you avoided the actual issue. The problem was never the desserts – it was the unnecessarily harsh and dismissive way we were spoken to. On this, you chose not to offer any explanation, and your reply continues in the same unnecessarily condescending tone. In addition, your Google listing clearly states opening hours from 09:00–00:00, with no mention that the kitchen closes in between. This is misleading for guests who rely on this information. After such an interaction, it becomes irrelevant how many times one has visited in the past. There is little point in returning to a place where respect and clear communication...
Read moreDo you want to taste the best milkshake at the island? Do you want a really refreshing pink lemonade in the heat? Of course you do! Then there is just one place to go, Two spoons! It’s busy but worth the wait! Staff is friendly. I (unfortunately) only had milkshake and a lemonade, but the people around me were raving about the delicious ice cream too.
Here is my recommendation (and the route I took). Start your day early so it’s not too hot (it will be hot regardless, but the earlier the better). Take a taxi to the Tunnel of Eupalinos, and be there when it opens. First trip down is 8:40. If you’re afraid of heights and tight spaces, this might not be for you. But the safety person following you down is super friendly and will take it slow if you get scared. When you get back up, follow the road back and at one point you’ll come to a sign that shows you the way to the Ancient Theater of Pythagoreio. Go by here, take some pictures, and continue your way upwards. There are plenty of seats on your way up, so if you get tired - take a seat and watch the view. You will get to the top and see the beautiful Panagia Spiliani Monastery. Here you will be greeted by cats and find serenity. Walk around for a bit, then find a seat to have some water and a short meditation on the beauty of this island.
Then start your walk down towards the town of Pythagoreion. Here there are many cute stores you can browse (and maybe buy some things to bring home). Plenty of good eateries. And also more history to be experienced. I recommend having a coffee and brunch at Hygge, before running through all the stores. Then visit the Archeological museum. And finish with a dessert at Two spoons before you find your way back to wherever you’re staying...
Read moreWe can not recommend this place enough to anyone visiting Samos, or this facility might even be a sole reason for visiting this beautiful island for culinary experince hunters all around the world. Their menu is one of the remaining battlefronts against the plastic bland tastes pathetically rationalized as being so called "healthy". Generous amounts of high quality regional butter, full fat creams from local fresh milk, light layers of hand made dough from local grains, high quality chocolate that I could rarerly experience even in my long periods in Brussels and Vienna, high-end professional fusion of Greek-Turkish and International desserts, very good brewed caffees... It might be an heaven for any Gourmand with a gusto. However, apart from all those gastronomical aspects, this place ownes one of the most hard working and kind staffs of Samos or even in the whole Aegean. Nikoleta and Kostas should be a real gem for their facility. Even in the busiest hours, under the heavy new order, customer and bill rain, they were keeping their gorgeous mood, heartly smile and strictly correct serving quality. Kostas, keep improving your wonderful hidden talent and dont forget the phrase "Parmaklarımızı yedik";) Thank you guys for all the heavenly desserts, coffees and warm hospitality. We will hopefully keep meeting again. All the best...
