Ordered a Tomahawk Steak, weighing about 800-900 grams and looking impressively large.
Although the interior of the steak was a bit tough, it had a good flavor, and the exterior parts were the tastiest, relatively tender, and fatty. I should also mention that I liked the presentation; it was served on a large wooden board with a long-bone, meaty Tomahawk steak accompanied by a crispy eggplant appetizer. The Béarnaise sauce on the side complemented the steak nicely.
The Greek salad was the typical fresh mix of tomatoes, lettuce, and other vegetables—simple but healthy, which is why we chose it.
What I loved most about this restaurant were the surprises. At the entrance, they served us a sweet, red liqueur whose ingredients I couldn’t identify, and before we left, they offered a lemon ice cream to lighten up the meal. The ice cream portion was quite generous.
Another great aspect was the attentive waitstaff who explained the menu items we were curious about in detail. We hadn’t seen this kind of attentiveness from the staff at other restaurants in Samos. Don’t get me wrong—they were all polite, but at the busier places, they only focused on taking orders. I understand the pressure of high demand, and in Turkey, I often order directly as well, but when it’s an island in a different country with unfamiliar dishes, asking a few questions and expecting answers seemed perfectly natural.
In conclusion, this was the most food we had at one sitting, yet leaving Ariston with a total of only 57 euros made us happy. Highly...
Read moreThis is such an overrated restaurant, it survives on location and it having a inviting and safe appearance for Scandinavian tourists. It looks professional and clean. The food and service leaves much to be desired. The waiters was busy talking to each other, playing around and at the same time had somewhat of an attitude because of stress and them having to many to serve. To many costumers, to few waiters. The food took long time, the food quality was OK, but the taste suffers under what has become a mass-produced food. It lacks time, love and effort despite them having both experience and knowledge to perform better then they do. I visited in 2009, and again in 2016 and now 2019. It was a good experience in 2009. 2016 and 2019 was disappointing. If you want a recommendation; Go eat at some of the smaller restaurants in the area insted as there is so much great food to choose from in the area. If you want Italian there is a couple of other places a stone throw away from this place which serves fantastic Italian food and has the excellent, friendly, warm and hospitable service that you almost always can expect...
Read moreWow, is all I can say. Reserved a table three hours before, and was well worth it. A smiling waiter came up to us just as we arrived at the restaurant, and we were immediately seated. Didnt take long before we got a menu, and two «welcome-drinks» that were on the house. We ordered and they told us that they usually serve bread with dips as starters, which they did not tell us costed money. But i feel like the food made up for it. Me and the Mrs. ordered 1 liter of Sangria, which was served freshly made with fresh fruits with a bucket of ice on the side. The food didnt take too long to come either, about 15 minutes.
And I am not joking when I say that this is the best meal I’ve had in my life. Everything was absolutely perfect. I don’t even like mushrooms but they tasted good. The Mrs. agrees. Such an insane good quality of food and service-minded waiters. On top of it all, we got some insanely delicious ice cream with lemon as a dessert.
