Authentic taverna, dating back to 1917. Wherever you choose to sit, you will enjoy - the memorabilia on the walls and stories about the history of Olympos, with many important events and people of the village seen through the camera of hosts' throughout the years, the roof and its stunning views, especially good for accommodating groups, or sitting in front of the taverna, overlooking the church and watching people passing by.
Soul-soothing homemade dishes, with my all-time favorites: zuchinni flowers stuffed with rice & baked feta in phylo with honey and sesame. If you go there, treat yourself with the fresh orange juice made by Filippos (tell him Jovana made the recommendation)!
What gives the unique charm and makes the whole experience and visit to the taverna so special are its people - the kindest hosts and their love and passion for Olympos!! A place to exchange the ideas, life-wisdom or learn more about the history of this unique Greek village. Ask Nikos or Filippos to give you a tour around and stories as told through the photos, and if you are lucky enough, you might even get to hear them play the lyra!
Filippakis family also run the hotel Aphrodite, which has the absolute best view in a village and 100% recommended to stay there overnight. There is no such a thing as waking up to the view from the balcony, or watching the sunset. Peacefulness in the midst of wilderness.
PS. If you look up at the ceiling in front of the bar, you will see Foals memorabilia, which is not by chance - Yannis Philippakis is part of the family and Olympos is the place...
Read moreGreat place to admire the sunset, having dinner with family and friends. Very tatsty food, diverse and original. Fast service. Extremely nice and friendly staff - a family driven taverna. The interior is covered by old photos, some musical instruments and other interesting small pieces of antiques - this gives a warm atmosphere and a nice vibe (for me). Olympos, Karpathos island, is a village build on the rocks, with narrow alleys betwen the traditional houses, small shops, tavernas, friendly people. A traditional shoemaker and his shop/workplace and his radio broadcast station - all in one, is something to remember. Also the women dressed in their traditional clothes (and working like that in the kitchen, cleaning etc, not just for decorative purpose) remembered me about my grandmother's village in my childhood. I told that to a nice old lady and she asked me where I am from and I told her. From Romania. She said she knows our traditional dresses from the internet and that they are pretty similar. That's true. A...

The food at Parthenon is delicious, and the portions are generous. The menu features traditional Greek dishes, as well as the traditional Olympos macaroni.
The service at Parthenon is excellent. The staff is friendly and attentive, and they are always happy to make recommendations.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. One of the best things about Parthenon is the sunset terrace. From the terrace, you can enjoy stunning views of the village and the surrounding mountains. It is a truly magical experience to watch the sun set over Karpathos sea while dining at Parthenon.
I highly recommend Parthenon Restaurant to anyone visiting Olympos, Karpathos. It is a great place to enjoy delicious food, excellent service, and...
