La Pasteria — Restaurant in Municipality of Kifisia

We went for lunch on a Sunday. Food was mediocre at best, a total decline from other times we have eaten at Pasteria (in different locations). I ordered spaghetti bottarga which was very dry and with no bottarga in sight; obviously it is an expensive ingredient but this is no excuse for serving a bottarga dish with no bottarga. Most importantly, the main courses came more than one hour after we arrived. When asked about the delay, our waiter said it was understandable as the place was full; although he was very polite he didn't even apologize for the delay but addressed the matter as a natural consequence of the place being full, which is totally unacceptable! The pizza we ordered as a starter came after the main courses. All in all a very very disappointing experience. I was really looking forward to dining at this restaurant, especially since we had driven an hour to get there to celebrate my partner’s birthday. The location is beautiful and peaceful, with a lovely ambiance, but unfortunately, the service was extremely slow.

It took 30 minutes just for someone to take our order, and to make things worse, other tables that arrived after us were served before we even had our order taken. We also noticed that every other table was given a small appetizer or amuse-bouche, but we received nothing.

After finally placing our order, we had to wait more than 30 minutes to receive our food. While the dishes were decent, they were nothing exceptional and certainly not worth the long wait.

Big disappointment unfortunately cause the location is great and private and it could have been overall a wonderful experience. But our experience this time around, even though we’ve been there plenty of times, was a huge let down: Slow service for our main courses, 1 pasta out of 4 arrived cold, another one arrived with the wrong type of pasta and pasta was overcooked across the board. Additionally, the flavors were very plain like kids’ dishes, no depth or complexity of flavor at all. Only the kid’s pasta was tasty. They said kid’s pasta arrives with juice and they brought the little carton juice box… could they make the effort of bringing it in a glass at least? On top of that, even though the place was empty, we had a group of people at the next table who were so loud and unpleasant. I would not be back sadly, unless they decide to make...
