I have been to this place many times before, in fact, each time I go to Kifissia, I make sure that I stop there for either coffee and desserts or lunch. I was bragging about this place to a friend of mine so I suggested we go there. As like the previous poster mentioned: the service was laughable! (What service??) there were 3 new persons that worked there and I asked if they knew the previous persons that served me before whereby she responded, no one here last’s longer than 3 months..(?) strange answer. Anyway, we sat on the terrace and while the new guys, now dressed in white pharmacist outfit where just walking around we waited about 30 minutes before they even paid attention to us to even give us the menu. In 30 minutes One lady gave us two glasses of water and when we asked if we can order, she said we had to wait. Finally the “pharmacist” came to order. I said, “hello, I would like to order two baguettes with jambon/fromage “ ...I swear to you... the look on his face!!! He said:” sorry, we don’t have this sir, baguette fromage??” I was thumb founded. He asked me what a baguette is and fromage, and If I could please come with him inside to show him, which I did... inside of course at the display where the usual pastries but very few sandwiches, he said “this is all we have, we make this in the morning, and when it’s done, it’s done” i did not want to accept this answer: this is Paul for Christ sake!! Baguette is the basics!! How do you even work there and don’t know what “jambon/fromage” is!!! So I saw they had baguettes in a tray so I told him “ please take this baguette, cut it in two, slice it and put ham and cheese and lettuce and tomato. He responded again that they don’t make sandwiches here, and I just repeated again what I wanted and then he said that he will see what he can do. I sat, and about another half an hour he came with exactly what I wanted. I was happy for that, but to tell you how many people were cursing about the service! 3 other tables just plainly stood up and walked away while I was there. For the rest the product is still good. I will go again next time just to see the theater of service if it has improved. I was kidding to my companion that I should order from “Everest” (Greek sandwhich place) and have it delivered faster on the terrace of Paul than the service of Paul itself, and I would almost bet that I would get it faster... so Paul management, take note!!! Need knowledgeable staff AND with energy that can RUN a bit. Twice another person from inside came with dishes to the terrace not knowing who it was for and returned again with them. When the bus girl told the “pharmacist” that a table wants to pay, he cursed her asking her if she doesn’t see that he is busy, over and over....
Read moreCompletely understaffed, slow service and bad quality.
We decided to come to Paul for a light brunch after not having been in a couple of years, despite the weirdly incredibly recent negative reviews.
We sat and waited for at least half an hour before anyone could come to our table to take our order. We called them two to three times until they came up to us and just told us that they’re understaffed, very busy and that no one could come right now, that’s just how it is we just have to wait.
After waiting, one waiter took our order, but coincidentally, anything we asked for from the menu was unavailable: we asked for a tropical juice, unavailable. A salmon quiche, unavailable. Crepes, unavailable. And so on. So the menu was very very limited compared to what was supposedly available.
After waiting at least 10 minutes for the drinks, we had asked for 2 orange juices, but they brought us one orange juice and a random ginger energy one. Next, we asked for a cheesecake and they brought us one in time, but proceeded to bring us another piece by accident minutes later.
We got two salmon avocado egg dishes and both people who ate them got a stomach ache and felt really sick after, I think something was wrong there. The taste was great, but the aftermath was bad.
Overall, genuinely one of the slowest services I have ever seen, very very understaffed, all the waiters look overworked, dizzy and just look like they are having a headache, spilling things by accident two or three times while we were there. It makes me sad to see the waiters look so stressed and having such a bad temper on a normal working day. From what I have seen, this has been going on for a while.
I really hope the waiters can at least have better working conditions. I just sat there for two ours max. I can’t imagine how it is to be...
Read morePaul, like many Parisian establishments, offers a delightful selection of classic French dishes. While the food itself consistently good, the overall experience can be a bit uneven. The coffee, while acceptable, doesn't quite reach the same heights as the cuisine. Service, unfortunately, tends to be quite leisurely, a characteristic I've observed more frequently at Paul restaurants across the Greece in comparison with other Paul branches in various countries. While perhaps a reflection of a more relaxed pace, it can sometimes test one's patience, especially during peak hours. Weekends, particularly during the colder months, see a surge in popularity, making the already cozy space feel quite crowded. The intimate seating arrangement, reminiscent of many Parisian bistros in tourist areas, certainly contributes to the ambiance, though it does mean that privacy is at a premium. Navigating the dining room can also prove challenging, often requiring a delicate negotiation between tables. This is especially true for those dining with children, as the tight quarters can make maneuvering strollers or simply keeping little ones contained a bit of a trial. While the quality of the food is a definite draw, a more thoughtful arrangement of the tables could significantly enhance the dining experience. A more spacious layout would not only improve customer comfort, particularly for families, but also likely streamline service, addressing the current delays. In a city with so many culinary options, a truly memorable meal requires more than just excellent food; it demands an equally seamless and...
