Monzu Kifisia — Restaurant in Municipality of Kifisia

On the outskirts of Kifissia is Monzu, an Italian restaurant housed in a building dating back to the early 20th century. The restaurant has a lovely garden. Unfortunately, there is a terrace near the interior where the tables are for smokers, but without separating the rooms, resulting in all the cigarette smoke entering the non-smoking area. From the dishes, we chose the Agnolotti pasta with topinambur, aged parmesan, Szechuan pepper, bottarga, and lime. It had a very special taste worth trying. From the pizzas, we chose the Mortadella-Pistachio with mozzarella, burrata, pistachio pesto, aged parmesan, and Bologna mortadella. The pasta was excellent, and overall, all the ingredients tied together perfectly. Finally, from the main courses, we chose the Shi Drum with zucchini cream, burnt lemon, green beans, and grilled seasonal greens. This dish scores an excellent 10/10, and you must try it. For dessert, we tried the “Cappuccino” with hazelnut praline crispy base, coffee cremeux, mocha ice cream, and mascarpone mousse, which was an excellent and refreshing choice to finish off a beautiful dinner. Worst Service Ever. I placed an order through efood platform, they accepted the order with an estimate of 40 min to delivery, they took the money out of my credit card but more than an hour later, when I called them to ask about the estimated time of delivery they replied that they do not do deliveries or take aways!!! I said that I have placed an electronic order that they accepted it (when you place an electronic order, the store has 2 mins to reply, if the do not reply - accept or reject, there is a 4 min extra time given to the restaurant to reply and after that if there is no reply, the order is automatically cancelled). Their reply was still that they do not take electronic orders! After I raised my voice and said that I had the receipt with all the details as well as there has been a charge on my card, they replied that the only thing they can do is to proceed with a refund! The menu and wine list in their restaurant today 20/6/23 are from 30% to 38% more expensive than the respective in their internet site! (For example bistecca from 80€ it went to 110€) Probably the inflation in Kifisia is 40% or this is the amount is missing from the owners and they look for it from the customers.

About the food: Despite the very expensive pricing, portions are extremely small. Starters were containing literally two bites, while being indifferent. Even the bistecca of 1 kg and 110€ (which was as it should), came without any sides. So we had to order side dishes for three and were served mashed potatoes and broccoli which was practically enough for one person. The wine list has a markup of 300%
