Consistency is the key. I dined just one month ago on the 14th of November early evening with some friends. We had amazing food that was just delicious- filet and tagliata from the Kyrios Piata menu and mushrooms from the orektika. Food atmosphere and service were top. Steaks cooked to perfection, tender but full of flavor- add that both the chimichuri and bernaise were fresh and spot on. Repeat the experience one month later- I brought my family- and everything was ‘meh. We ordered the exact same items and more. Firstly each of the steaks- filet, tagliata and tbone had a smoke flavor- like you added something for this effect like a smoke salt- which I suspect was added because the flavor for both the tagliata and the filet was lacking and the meat texture was off- very fatty and too soft-like it was tenderized with something or the animal was just lot fed. My cut was came to me cold from sitting out—and cooked well done when i ordered medium rare- a complete disappointment— what’s worse is that the waiter came 20 minutes later to ask if everything was ok- at which point i had already decided not to ruin a rare family night out on your poor performance. Even the chimichuri was boring when it’s the easiest thing to make- and get right….Furthermore the mushrooms were basic white button variety and in watery sauté sauce- lacking the finish which was masterfully done a month before with a variety of forest mushrooms. I will say the Uruguayan ribeye was up to par in both taste and tenderness and the kids liked the candied pecans in the beet salad and it also the truffle steak fries which my husband had ordered with his steak but were delivered as a side in addition to the roasted potatoes next to his steak. The waiters were kind enough but quite awkward and it seems there has been a turn over of staff in the kitchen and out- and the expected standards of the menu are not yet where...
Read moreA disappointing experience overall. I was really looking forward to this for some time. Unfortunately the place didn’t live up to expectations. The food was fine, although admittedly overpriced (36 euro per 300gr of Uruguayan ribeye - current over the counter price in Athens 52 euro per kg) but this was not my main problem. The main problem was one of attitude by the staff. Our request that our mains (at 36 euro per 300gr) come with a side of fries rather than baby potatoes and vegetables was greeted with extreme negativity: can’t be done, the chef doesn’t allow it, (almost) how dare you mess with the dish (was not spoken out loud). If I hadn’t asked for such small changes in so many high end places around the world I could have thought I was committing a terrible faux pas! The side in question, when it arrived, turned out to be three (3) very small baby potatoes and some (overcooked) vegetables - I am still unsure how changing them with fries would have damaged the chefs vision…Interestingly the same waiter afterwards decided to be ironic (!!) with our friends for having given him “disapproving looks”. Did the overall experience (apart from the points above) live up to so much pretentiousness? I am afraid not: we had to ask to get salt and pepper (and wait), there was no 2nd bottle of the wine we ordered and nobody told us at the beginning (in fact we had to ask twice to get a second bottle), etc etc. The overall bill (at 75 euros per person) was way too much for average food, and below average service. So, I am afraid I can’t recommend this...

The menu at Wood features an array of mouth-watering dishes, with the beef fillet being one of the standout options. The meat is cooked to perfection and served with a creamy potato puree, which makes for a heavenly combination. The char-grilled vegetables are also not to be missed, with their vibrant colors and fresh flavors.
The starters are equally impressive, with the tomato salad being a standout dish that highlights the freshness of the ingredients. The salad is tossed in a tangy vinaigrette that adds an extra layer of flavor to the juicy tomatoes and fresh herbs. The char-grilled vegetables also make an appearance here, and they are just as delicious as they are in the main course.
