TLDR; NO vegan options, even when requested in advance. Kitchen and wait staff do not accommodate their guests’ requests at all but instead blatantly ignore them.

I attended a wedding reception recently, which was held in the outdoor area. Only a small amount of guests was present due to Covid-19 restrictions but the venue wasn’t closed off to us and other customers were served in the meantime. Knowing that I would have very limited options as a vegan, the couple kindly requested for any vegan options to be available during the service. The answer they received was that “It’s very difficult, but we’ll find something”. As we arrived at the restaurant there were menus printed out for us listing the main dishes and none of them were plant based. However there was a pasta option so I assumed I could request to have some toppings removed and have that. As waiters came to take our orders, our table mentioned that I am vegan and I chose the pasta dish. Later on a different waiter came by and mentioned that their pasta is traditional and made with eggs therefore I could not have it. He instead offered a risotto minus the cheese while saying “I’m not sure how it’ll taste as cheese is a binding agent in it” and also offered a plain salad as another main. I chose to order the risotto. Before our mains arrived, several appetizers came to our table and were set in front of each individual. Since none of the appetizers were vegan, nothing was placed in front of me. The wait staff kept coming over and bringing more dishes, blatantly ignoring the fact that one of their guests was left to remain hungry and instead awkwardly stare at everyone else eating. I’m really struggling to understand how the kitchen of a supposed “high end” restaurant (that was aware vegan options were already requested days in advance) couldn’t provide even a single appetizer. Salads were brought over and served to each table, which were topped with cheese and dressing, so I once again could not have any. They didn’t even have the decency to bring out a smaller portion for me, to compensate the fact that I had not eaten anything the entire time and was at this point starving. Mains were served shortly after and my risotto was nice, but could not make up what had been going on the entire evening. Lastly dessert was served and several delicious sweets were passed to all guests, while I was given a scoop of mango sorbet. At this point I was just thankful I was served anything. I’m well aware that service is prepared in advance, especially for a wedding reception but cannot wrap my head around the fact that the kitchen staff could not accommodate a single request of vegan food, or create any sort of alternative. I would truly and obviously never recommend this...
