We have been visiting the taverna kastri for many years and recently revisited in 2022. Although it was good before, the standard is now very high due to extra staff in the kitchens and the front of house (their reputation is growing) and the value is excellent. A family of four can eat a hearty lunch for little more than €40 and it has wonderful access to some of the nicest beach swimming in kos. Stunning location and very kind people! It's a simple kitchen here, nothing fancy, Greek dishes done well. After all, Kefalos is not a great place to eat overall-the comparison to Kardamena is mind blowing in this regard! Try the Chatsiemmanuel white wine(asyrtiko), it is amazing quality local wine! We had lunches and dinners here, we kept going back. For lunch its extra nice since you can take a dip and come back and continue your lunch. Did I say it is wonderful? Yes, it is wonderful! We ordered the Greek meze platter, lamb roast and a Greek salad as food for two and white wine and ouzo for drinks. Overall, fantastic! Just come here and see it for yourselves.
