★★☆☆ – Friendly service, disappointing steaks, but excellent seafood
We were approached by a friendly young lady outside Loustros Restaurant who invited us in – a common practice on Kos. The staff overall were kind, smiling, and easy to talk to, which made for a pleasant welcome.
We were a party of three. I ordered a vanilla milkshake that unfortunately tasted like watered-down milk. I mentioned it, and to their credit, they quickly replaced it with a new one – better, but still far from what you'd expect of a proper milkshake. My mother ordered a fresh juice, which sadly tasted more like it had been diluted with water than freshly pressed.
When it came to food, the fish dish was excellent – fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. No complaints there at all – a real highlight of the evening.
Unfortunately, things took a turn with the meat dishes. I ordered a tomahawk steak rare, and my mother a ribeye medium. Both arrived well done. Again, the staff were very understanding and offered to replace my steak, which I appreciated – but by the time the second one arrived, the moment was sort of lost. I was already full from waiting.
And while the steaks looked fine, they were disappointingly bland – lacking seasoning or depth of flavor. It felt like they could have really benefited from a good dose of herbs, spices, or just something to give them life and soul. The meat itself wasn’t bad in quality, but it simply didn’t stand out in any way.
One additional downside was the music inside the restaurant. It quickly became irritating and ended up disrupting the dining experience more than enhancing it. Sometimes less is more when it comes to atmosphere.
It’s clear that Loustros isn’t a steakhouse, burger joint, or pizza place. This is a restaurant that shines when it comes to seafood and traditional Greek dishes. Do yourself a favor and stick to what they do best – the local specialties and the fish.
All in all, a somewhat disappointing experience, lifted by their great seafood and genuinely friendly service.

Read moreVisited here last night for a meal and couldn't have been happier with our choice of place to eat. There was a good, comprehensive menu - I checked they had my favourite, Swordfish (they did) and was told it was the best. Indeed it was, the most perfectly cooked and presented dish I have had this trip. The same with my husband's Stifado which was delivered to the table piping hot and looked delicious. The semi-sweet Rose wine we had was an ideal accompaniment. The charming lady working the passers by needn't work so hard, this is an excellent choice of restaurant for both food and service and is highly...
Read moreOur favourite place to eat in kardamena, especially breakfast. I swear the chefs are using magic in the kitchen. Amazing food time after time, we cannot recommend this place highly enough. Lovely homely feel to the restaurant, friendly staff, wide enough selection of food in the menu to keep everyone happy. You can tell there is thought put into each dish, right down to the home made salad dressing (we asked, it was that good) and quality ingredients in all the food here. Good wine and other drinks. Don't miss visiting loustros if you're...
