We visited here on the second to last day of our stay, after arranging a minibus to take us up to Kefalos Old Town from Kefalos (The Main Road) the company we used was JD Travel - very recommended!
You can walk up but it's a bit of a hike if any of your group has walking difficulties, so we got a lift up for €20 return for six of us - bargain!
We had a couple of beers at the local cafes, had a walk to the edge near the old fortress, then had a nice walk down to Maistrali Restaurant.
The views were fantastic! We had a lovely table looking on to the views of the sea and Kefalos/the rest of Kos too.
We ordered; oven baked feta cheese with tomato and herbs, and some cheesey garlic bread to start/to share, along with some ice cold beers.
For mains we ordered some varied dishes, mine being their homemade Lamb Kleftiko (in this part of Greece it's also cooked in the oven in a clay pot, but with filo pastry and sesame seeds on top - delicious!!!
Everyone else had either souvlaki (kebab skewers), seafood, lamb, or chicken and everyone left clean plates too!
I think our bill came to around €86, whixh we were happy with, and as every box was ticked, we left a tip too.
Would definitely visit...
Read moreThe staff was awesome, very kind, always at hand, they served us with mastika, and had the time and will to explain everything they knew about the liqueur and it's manufacturing, also provided a few informations about the plant itself. The service was quick, and as comfortable as we were at home, the waiters had a big smile and explanation for whatever and however silly intrigue we had. The food was excellent and the portions big, we almost couldn't finish our meals after sharing only the greek salad. The beer we were drinking came with ice cold glasses, and at any second, one of the waiters would just appear out of thin air to see if everything is as it should be (without approaching or being invasive, just taking good care of the customers, a proper example of philoxenia). The location itself is fabulous, the view is breathtaking, their kindness and interaction impeccable, all in all, i wish i could come there at least once a week, just perfect 🥰 Would most definitely...
Read moreHad the absolute pleasure of dining at this wonderful family restaurant whilst on Kos. If you are wanting genuine Greek food, this is your only go to place. Sitting on top of the mountain in Kefalos and views to die for. The service was fantastic and friendly and it was lovely to see all the family doing there bit. I opted for the Slow cooked 4 cheese, potato and lamb main course. It made me want to buy a house in the village and eat it everyday for the rest of my life. Absolutely stunning as well as all my other courses. Delightful. If you are holidaying on Kos make every effort to visit this absolute gem. The Airport Manager at Kos recommended this restaurant as this was were the locals eat. He was absolutely right. I spoke to him again as I was leaving and he was delighted that I had taken his advice and got a big hug. Friends for life. Thank you Maistrali...
