Tl:dr: good food in a nice atmosphere.
After a failed attempt to see Zija with it being overcrowded in the evening we settled in taverna.
Trying the usual appetisers - Saganaki and Tzaziki they were all very good. We recommend you to try their cumin seasoned meatballs which combines Greek cusine with eastern flavours.
For mains we ordered 2 portions of pork Souvlakis which were tender and delicious. Talking of tender, you must try Stifado!
Red village wine is whats to be expected on islands of Greece. Not remotely comparable to central European ones, where colder climate is more suited for storing red wine and keeping its quality. We will stick to their traditional white wines.
Only downside of this restaurant is lack of olive oil on tables. If you can't go without it like us, you can buy small containers for 50 cents each. Oil is actually delicious.

It is worth driving up from Zipari just to visit this taverna. Then you also have the beautiful village to walk...

I have been there for lunch maybe once a year in recent times, but initially in 2010. The welcome remains friendly but not exaggerated; the menu is not extensive, but all the usual suspects are there. Oh yes, the Mythos is cold😉.
Such a refreshing alternative to the tat trap Zia just two minutes up the road...... Try...
