Lovely setting in Pollonia beach, they wanted to upgrade the Greek tavern to a more sofisticated level not sure if they achieved.
We had an amazing octopus and Fava beans puree as starters, they didn't serve us the bread we asked to the waiter when they served the starter who totally forgot after as he carried on cleaning tables while our starter was getting cold and not bread ...we asked to an other waiter (the guy who takes customers to the tables) and when we almost finished the starter the bread arrived.
They didn't clean up the table and the main courses arrived so a new technique I see common here in the Greek islands they manage to clean your table while they serve you the mains (mah! )
Seafood Mussaka was sublime !
Scampi linguine, we appreciated the well cooked linguine and the scampi buy the bisque was way too much and too too sweet with too much tomato sauce that covered up the whole scampi flavour and aroma, less is more especially when you want to feel scampi not a tick bisque only !
Wine we picked a local dry white and was good.
They didn't bother to come by ask for desserts as they didn't even bother to clean up the table after our main courses so after 30 Min with dirty plates we asked for the bill.
Bottom line is over rated and terrible service if you have such a high consideration for your style and food then you should equally have a "decent" service in any hotellery to me was a service of a low key taverna, food (not all) from someone who knows how to treat ingredients bit still scampi linguine need lot of mastering...
Read moreI have a hard time giving 3 stars even though the food was delicious. Our dining experience wasn’t great. We had reservations but we were arriving by boat so we were 10 minutes late, and they had to give our table on the beach away - which is totally understandable! They did offer us a table under the awning which was just as good in my opinion. We then watched 4 separate couples who didn’t have reservations get seated on the beach, so we knew then the owner could have seated us on the beach but he was just making a point. A big yikes when it comes to customer service. We picked out what we wanted to order within a couple minutes, and then sat there waiting with our menus shut for 30 minutes. No one even acknowledged us. We picked up on how it worked, the owner micromanaged the servers and assistants telling them where to go and what to do, so I imagine, again to make a point, he told them not to come to our table. Again, horrible customer service. We were about to just leave and go to another restaurant but I asked if our table had a server and he rudely acted surprised that we were ready. The server was actually really nice! The food was delicious, but unfortunately I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone based off of the owners arrogance and attitude towards us. We definitely didn’t experience anyone like that anywhere else in Greece during our stay - everyone else, especially restaurant owners and staff were incredibly nice...
Read moreHaving just arrived on Milos from the ferry, quick taxi to our accommodation all the while famished from our journey, we ventured down to the beach of Pollonia with low expectations and fingers crossed we would find an open restaurant.
We stumbled onto Akrotiri restaurant based solely on the ambiance of the beachfront seating and what appeared to be very reasonable prices for such an amazing backdrop. We never expected to have the best meal we’ve had while in Greece.
We had the pork belly slices and the shrimp and without question, these two dishes were equally the best main courses we’ve had in country (and at a fraction of the cost of other more high end restaurants).
Our servers were Orestis and Manos who were just as perfect as the meals we enjoyed. They were helpful, knowledgeable and far and away the most polite staff that we have encountered on our trip. What an absolute treat gentlemen, bravo!!
All in all the best pound for pound experience thus far from a dining standpoint and we would highly recommend Akrotiri to anyone we meet! And there are pretty awesome cats strolling the beach which is a plus for any animal lover. We hope you enjoy it as...
