This restaurant was highly recommended so I made reservations and we were so excited for a great evening. Unfortunately, the incredibly poor service dampened our enthusiasm. We were seated and promptly given bread with nothing else. We waited 15 minutes to try and flag someone down to get some water and some wine. Long story short, our reservation was for 1.5 hours and we were down to the last 15 minutes and my husband had to literally get up to have someone take our entree order. The manager said it due to staffing, but that was nonsense as they had more staff than any other restaurant on the island. To top it all off, that same manager had the nerve to show up at our table at the 1.5 hour mark and tell us our time was up. I think they have high ratings due to their very good social media presence, but our service experience was just terrible - worst ever on any Greek island which made the fact that the food was decent irrelevant. I would recommend Marrone of Milos for lovely and attentive fine dining experience.
Edit, just reading the management's response which addresses that they were busy doesn't address the fact that they are A RESTAURANT that is supposed to SERVE FOOD within the 1.5 hour allotted timeframe. To give us a reservation where 15 minutes are remaining and we had yet to have our entree order taken and a manager tapping his watch that our time was almost up, is beyond unacceptable. Can they be so rude as to think we make reservations at a dining establishment to sit and then leave without eating???? In reading the rest of their poor reviews, they have no respect for their customers and they seem to think we are just LUCKY to be in their presence. Shame on Yialos and all your responses to all of your...
Read moreGreat food but I was very unhappy with the 2 waiters I interacted with. I had made a reservation and the host, assuming the owner, was very nice and friendly. Got a table by the water even though there was plastic cover for the high winds.
When we were ready to order, our waitor said to give him 3 minutes which is completely fine. However, we felt very rushed. They were busy, understood, but he didn’t seem to be rushing others.
Either way, the food was very good. We ordered tzatziki + scallops in a pumpkin sauce as apps since the scallops were only 3 they told us. Both very delicious. We ordered the lamb and the mussels. Both again very delicious.
However, the night was ruined because of 2 main reasons with 2 waiters. We were waiting for 15 minutes to get our waitor’s attention to get the bill and he never came. He took new tables and we were ignored. So I decided to ask another waitor walking by instead. I simply said, can we have the check please? And he nodded. I started to say thank you since our waitor didn’t come by but he snapped at me.” YES! Yes, check! I know English miss.” VERY RUDE!! I am Greek, I could’ve asked in Greek but I forgot since English is my first language.
So when he brought the check back, I told him in Greek that I speak Greek. Our waitor didn’t come by. He just brushed me off and never apologized. Just because you have good food does NOT mean you can be rude to those coming out for a good night while on vacation. Next time I visit my family, I’ll make sure to eat at the other restaurants...
Read moreGialos is by far the best choice for food in Milos. We visited on 8/8/2020. The four of us arrived a little after 3 pm without a reservation and had to wait to get a table but in the meantime we were seated comfortably on a bar-table and enjoyed our first choices from the menu with a bottle of superb white wine (Santorini Vassaltis 2018) and a dish of a super fresh assortment of oysters. The service from start to finish was impeccable even though the restaurant was packed. The restaurant is super clean, following all new rules and regulations about covid-19 and located beautifully by the sea. Don't miss the taramosalata, the grouper carpaccio, the shrimp ceviche, the shrimps with butter, soy and almira (local yummy greens), the braised octopus and (one of the surf and turf dishes) oysters with bacon. We had two more bottles of fantastic greek white wines. The wine list is great and very reasonably priced. If you don't know much about greek wines let them help you. Or ask for Christos, one of the owners! He is such an amazing professional! Every plate came timely, the portions were on the bigger side and we left three hours later dreaming of the moment we could come back. Our bill was 240 euros for four adults with a healthy appetite, out of which almost 100 euros were the 3 bottles of wine. I consider it a steal! Do...
