Our last day on Milos and we found this place. Wish we would have had 2 visits there! Food was great - premium grill platter - and we were in love with both the Angus and Lamb skewers. An ice cold Alpha (THE Greek beer) to wash it all down and a complimentary little sweet bite of a cake that tasted like baklava in a cake form. SO delicious. The service was excellent! Warm, fun staff looked after as and we watched them with other tables as they joked and made us all feel welcome. The atmosphere was great because it was "off the strip " of restaurants. The strip along the bay offers a number of great places to dine, but with its vibrant ambiance, you also have a busy, loud background. Apollonio Grill House was a little removed from the noise and was a great place for a quieter meal. We would have gone again had we known about it. 10 out of 10!!!!
*The one thing I will add has nothing to do with the restaurant. It was some of the guests. There are SO many cats on the island. When you are a guest in a restaurant PLEASE do not feed them. They will naturally come to see if you have scraps, but if you feed them, you bring 10 more to your table. The people beside us were tossing scraps, and it was chaotic for the cats, who would fight... annoying for the other guests, who would have to hear the fights... and "contained chaos" for the restaurant. The restaurant would gently shoo them away, but you could see they were frustrated that this was happening but not wanting to tell the table to stop for fear of seeming rude. Once the guests leave, the cats will absolutely associate the restaurant as the place with scraps, not the 2 travelers from the UK. This causes the restaurant to have to deal with the cats long after. I love cats very much. It is everything in me to not just place my plate on the floor for them to eat it all. But I don't because there needs to be consideration for the restaurant, the guests, and even the cats. It's a fun thing for visitors, but a problem for local establishments after we leave. Just don't. There are places where the cats are fed. They're not our...
Read moreIf you’re exploring the charming village of Apollonia on the island of Milos and craving something quick, delicious, and authentically Greek, Apollonio Grill House is the place to go. After trying several other gyro and pita spots across the island, we can confidently say this one stood out above the rest.
We stopped in for a casual meal and were blown away by the quality and flavor. The gyros were absolutely top-notch—juicy, flavorful meat wrapped in perfectly grilled pita, with fresh toppings and just the right amount of creamy tzatziki. Every bite was balanced and satisfying, a notch above the others we’d sampled in Adamas and beyond.
The Greek salad was fresh and vibrant, with crisp cucumbers, sweet tomatoes, and a slab of creamy feta topped with oregano and olive oil—simple, classic, and done right. The zucchini balls (kolokithokeftedes) were another unexpected highlight: crispy on the outside, soft and herby inside, and full of flavor.
What we really appreciated was how easygoing and accessible the whole place felt. It’s casual and unpretentious—ideal for a quick lunch or dinner without sacrificing quality. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the portion sizes and freshness of the food. The staff were warm and efficient, keeping things moving without making you feel rushed.
Apollonio Grill House has that rare mix of convenience, authenticity, and quality that’s hard to find. While Milos has plenty of places serving gyros and pitas, this one just...
Read moreHere you'll enjoy the biggest and tastiest pork gyros. Get the Greek salad with local cheese as well and you'll have an explosion if flavors in your mouth! Chill atmosphere and very friendly service. 2 gyros, 1 salad and 2 beers were 20 EUR and we left full and satisfied! Unlike at Vlahos, I actually had enough meat in it to the last bite.
Later edit. Sorry but I can't keep a 5 stars rating because I left almost still hungry. It was late and the pork meat finished, so I had to go with the chicken gyros. After the first bite, I had to spit it out. Sorry but that mustard sauce was a really bad fit for a gyros and yucky. I don't understand why it's not made with tzatziki, like the other one. After unwrapping it and picking out everything soiled with that sauce, I was left with some very dry chicken (BTW the quantity of meat was half of the last time I ate here) and the fries were stale. If it wasn't for the (still delicious) Greek salad, I would have left the whole thing there and left, cause it was almost inedible. I'm quite...
