We came last year and it was a disaster. This year our friends that are in Tolo asked us to sit here for dinner and we agreed thinking that it might of got better. Mistake again. The person who sits you and takes the order is not even smiling at you. Tried to sit us on the beach instead of the pier insisting that it is fully booked. After a brief argument he agreed to sit us all 7 of us on the pier. We were there untill 10.30 and the last 5 tables were never taken.
So a bad start.
Then he start offering the fried platter for two but insisting of making it as for four people as we were too many. Argument again from his side. Although we wanted different food he pushed us again towards it.
Food starts coming. No smiles. No talk. Drink forgotten and again waiter insisting he has never been told of it.
Food is ok but if fried it smells funny.
Grilled calamari are to die for. Very tender. Large grilled fish portion of catch od the day also good. Octopus stifado is just fried onions with tomato and boiled Octopus. Nothing like real stifado.
Eating a nice meal, pleasantly served, this includes taking the order is one of the joys of a holiday, don’t come here if you want that experience. There appeared to be no care for the customers, no check back etc. Just walking past you. Not even taking any empty plates of the table.
After 4 years in a row and two weeks in Tolo each time we are all convinced that Romvi is the best TAVERNA in town. For a twist go for Panorama or Maria. Both excellent with welcoming staff...
Read moreOn our first evening in Tolo, we didn’t know where to eat, so we walked down to the beach and came across Moystakias, the very first spot by the sea. At first, we were a bit hesitant — the tables right on the pier looked beautiful, but we feared it might be a tourist trap.
In the end, it turned out to be a great choice. The owner was extremely friendly and served us plenty of fresh seafood, with prices written on the board and adjusted based on the group size. At first we were cautious, but everything was excellent: from the octopus and shrimp to the mixed grilled and fried fish.
The service was a little slow, though we had been told there were some issues in the kitchen that evening, so I believe it’s not the norm. Still, the view from the tables was stunning, and the final bill was fair — around €30–35 per person, which felt very reasonable considering the quality and quantity.
With so many tavernas along Tolo beach, this one was a lucky find, and I can only recommend it for both the food and the warm, personal...
Read moreLocation - beautiful. Food - plenty but average, the owner said that they were not serving Greek food until the end of June. ????? Why??? He clearly wanted everybody to have fish and was quite angry when advised that one of us was allergic to fish. Service - Arrogant, in your face rude, No Customer care, Gave the impression he didn’t want the business unless you were paying minimum 60euro !!!! We witnessed a couple sit down at one of the tables (there was about 20 tables and only three being used) when they said that they were not eating but only wanted drinks they were asked to leave! Considering the emptiness of the restaurant surely it would have been better to have people helping to make the restaurant look busy rather than turn them away?! There were other examples of total rudeness - too many to mention! Finally, the owner thought he didn’t have to give me 15 euro change as he "thought we had left it as a tip" Not a Return visit or any form of recommendation from...
