Avli — Restaurant in Municipality of Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades

For my review of Avli (this time it is me ;-) ) I want to say that everything was excellent. 10/10 I would recommend and I would go again.

We came here twice (at the time of this review, but we will try yo go again for sure)

The Avli salad is the perfect salad if you like seafood. The seafood is cooked to perfection (Octopus, squid, shrimp, and mussels) and cooked in the moment. The seafood fits perfectly with the greens and tomatoes, etc… to create a perfect blend of flavors.

We also ordered fresh red snapper from the catch of the day. We were taken to the kitchen, we chose which fish we wanted and they cooked it for us on the grill. It was prepared perfectly. One of the best I’ve tasted in a long long time. Really excellent.

The first day we went for lunch and ordered grilled sardines and grilled octopus and a traditional desert (can’t remember the name of it). It was delicious and very well prepared.

The service both times was excellent. The staff was fast to take our order and were very nice.

And last but not least, the beachfront views are excellent.

Overall I really recommend this...

We just went there and I was very dissapointed and I left pretty disgusted. We ordered bread for our food for an extra charge. The first loaf was fresh and whole. The second bread we got was stale and not whole. It was two end pieces of two different breads, one with sesame one without. When I went to the bathroom I saw the leftover bread baskets from other costumers on the side. It seems the manager gave us leftover bread from prior costumers that had already been given out touched and brought back. Also we waited 1h hour for our food and the portion was a little small and the quality just ok. The lit of the oil dispencer on the table fell off and underneath it was pretty dirty and it looked like dark balsamico. Do they never wash the dispencers between refills? I won't...

We have been going to this Taverna for many years now, one of the first to open In March, small menu to start with but know problem, everything is covered fish, fur ,feather, lovely home cooked food, we always start with an Alpha or fix along with 1/2 litre of rose or village wine 🍷 followed by Fried Kalamari and then a chill out before we order the next course, fish or meat with salads and vegetables, its always best to get in the Greek way, chill out,take it easy, don't rush as everything is home made and cooked, lovely Tzatziki to Mousaka, lovely view to the sea and Paros, gets very busy in the season hey ho shit happens, the family will always do the best for there customers, great place give it a try , chill out your in one of the finest places.
