ANEPLORA — Restaurant in Municipality of Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades

Well the 🏆goes to the taste of the grilled Calamary. That’s it basically. I was reading the reviews that was stating about the service and I thought that people were exagerating. Until I saw it with my own eyes. Their service was by far the worse that I experienced and not because of the waiters but because of the procedures that do not exist and the general unorganization. Nobody welcomed us and staff was passing next to us without even asking if we need anything. We sat at 21:30 and we ordered at 22:00. We start eating at 22:30. The owner seemed to be in his own world. I am sad when I have to mention these things but on the other hand I do not understand why owners do not respect people who choose their restaurants for their dinner. We dined at Aneplora with high hopes, but unfortunately, our experience was underwhelming. There were a few things that really put us off. The food was very disappointing, we ordered a fish soup and the avgolemono was off. Fish was very cold as well.

Next was the restroom situation— the windows led directly to the kitchen, which was quite unhygienic.

To make matters worse, we left an €8 tip for our waiter, who was fantastic. However, when we went inside to pay by card, we noticed the person at the till (who we assume was the owner) had only added €3 to the tip box. It was only after we pointed it out that he corrected it to the full €8. This left a bad taste in our mouths, and we were disappointed by the lack of honesty.

We were on vacation in the Greek islands and spent a few days in Koufunisi. The guy at our hotel recommended some locations to visit and of course some restaurants. We had recommendations before from hotels (usually for restaurants and bar they have some sort of deal), so we were a little sceptical, but decided to give it a try.

The restaurant is about a 10-15 minute walk from the port, from all the agitation, but it is worth it.

The staff is very helpful, the food is delicious (and fresh - they have the fish of the day, which you can personally chose and have it weighted in front of you) and the view to the little port with fishermen's boats along with the good taste decorations make a wonderful environment to have...
