We were a large group of 7 and they were able to accommodate us at the last minute. The location is stunningly beautiful. We had a table right on the pebbly beach and there were beautiful views of the water and setting sun. Once the sun had set, lights turned on in the hills around the cove and on the boats. You really can't beat dinner on the water with your feet right on the pebbles. It was beautiful. Not many bugs (wasps / mosquitos) but there was a breeze so maybe we got lucky.
The menu is quite varied. I was able to try my friends dishes so I got a good sense of the food.
Very nice kalamata olives and fluffy bread to start 10/10 Taramasalata - very smoothly whipped and super flavorful 10/10 The veal sofrito was super flavorful...garlic forward, saucy and tender veal. 10/10 Alexandra's chicken - a creamy cheesy concoction super comforting reminiscent of chicken cordon bleu 10/10 Lamb kleftiko...the combo of flavors between lamb, feta and red pepper is so good together. The lamb could have been a bit more tender 8/10 Moussaka is a generous portion served with fries or boiled veg. Found the bechamel layer to be a bit too thick/rich which made it overpowering. Could have also been heated a touch warmer 7/10 Grilled sea bass is a beautiful fresh whole fish served with rice, fries or veg and a lemon olive oil sauce on the side. Lovely 10/10 Homemade cheesecake with rose petal marmalade...some of us loved it and some found the rose a bit overpowering. I was on the latter side. Also found the cheesecake not quite sweet enough. 6/10 Baklava with ice cream ..the style is like a thick slice of pie. I had a taste of a friend's and personally found it really good but friends were not as pleased. For me 8/10

Read moreThis has been the worst experience of my life in a restaurant, not just Corfu. Everything went ok until the end, when we asked if it was possible to split the bill in our group and pay individually, which is something very common in Greece and Corfu.
The aggressive waiter first said it's not possible and that they don't have time for this, he then went into the kitchen and came back saying that we should do the calculations ourselves, on a piece of paper. Keep in mind this is Greek alphabet and the majority of items were written down as "food", not specific at all, again unusual.
We started calculating everything ourselves and asked for some explanations on what was exactly added to the bill, and then the waiter got even more angry and decided to do it himself. One person from our group managed to pay his share and then the waiter asked the rest of the group what we had, made all the individual calculations and at the end decided he can't do this anymore and started screaming at us even more.
The whole situation got very tense and out of control, we got surrounded by all the aggressive waiters and some very annoyed customers who were rushing to pay their bills and who didn't mind their business at all.
After being harassed in a way I could have never imagined, I managed to finally pay the remaining amount and left as quickly as possible. There are not a lot of restaurants on the beach, so there's no competition which means they can do whatever they want. After we carefully calculated everything at home, we had the confirmation that they charged us extra (around 20eur), which is the reason why they reacted so aggressively when asked for justification.
If anyone had the patience to read my review until the end, please avoid this place...
Read moreMy wife and I ate here last night having just arrived in Kalami. This place has an outstanding view of the beach and sea as it is right on the water front. Unfortunately this was the only good thing about our experience.
In summary, the service was pretty mediocre. We had a glass of house white wine with our starter which was only just drinkable. My wife ordered a taramasalata which for some reason came with no bread or anything to dip in it. I ordered garlic bread which looked like a couple of slices of toasted brown bread with garlic butter smeared on it. To be honest this wasn’t exactly bad so far but just pretty underwhelming. We then moved onto our main course…. I ordered a Greek pizza and my wife ordered a moussaka. The pizza was touted as being made from locally sourced dough. All I can say is this may have been the case before the entire pizza had clearly been put in a deep freezer for several months. This pizza did not look or taste fresh at all. My wife’s moussaka tasted like it had been reheated…. again, not fresh at all. Then there was the house red that was undrinkable (tasted like vinegar). We would have stayed for a dessert but based on our experience with the starter and main course I really didn’t want to risk another disappointment.
I think it is a real shame with this restaurant as it is clearly only the view that is getting the owners any business at all. A place like this deserves much more effort being made on the food. If the food was good then this place would be fantastic. As it is, we won’t be coming back here for the duration of our stay in Kalami and hopefully this post will dissuade anyone else from making the same...
