Checked the reviews, decided it would be a place to try despite a plethora of non-Greek dishes. Before anything, I will say the service was excellent - attentive without being overbearing.
To the food; when local, eat local food - an ethos we have pursued through years of travel. Greek menu here is limited, but sufficient - it's clearly catering to a wide demographic, and I can't criticise the owners for that in a predominantly tourist area. We ordered lamb chops and "drunken chicken" (new one on us, but Greek ingredients). Chops were more cutlets, but thats a language thing, but no seasoning - no garlic, no oregano, nothing. So basically lamb chops (cutlets) and chips; salad was nicely dressed, and tzatziki flavourful. Mrs P's drunken chicken was flavourful, but the chicken well overcooked - I guess that's an issue of trying to do so many covers.
In short, it fits the tourist demographic. If you want excellent Greek food, maybe not for you - but the other reviews suggest they understand...
Read moreWe found Woody’s Café completely by accident — just picked a random spot on the map near the sea for breakfast. And wow, what a lucky choice! The view is absolutely stunning — you’re literally sitting right by the water, sipping your coffee and watching the waves.
The staff were super friendly and kind, and the atmosphere couldn’t be more relaxing. Perfect place to enjoy a cappuccino, hot chocolate, or even a cocktail if you feel like it.
As for the food — the eggs with bacon were a solid 10/10, perfectly cooked and delicious. The pancakes, however, were a bit disappointing — probably a 5/10. They felt like they were made the day before and just reheated, though Nutella and banana on top did save the situation a bit.
But honestly, the view and the whole vibe make up for everything. Oh, and there’s a cat here — the sweetest little creature who stole our bacon and our hearts. 🐱
So overall — despite the pancakes — this place easily deserves 10/10. Highly...
Read moreI can see why this place gets a lot of praise from visitors, the service is good and the prices are not too expensive, especially given some of the portion sizes. However there is a lot of competition in the space of a few hundred meters on the Acharavi beach front, and this isn't the best-of-the -best but is still very good.
It's always seems to be busy, and wait times can be a little longer than you might need, especially if you have a young family with you. The scenery is amazing, and the furnishing are ok, but showing their age compared with the likes of Medusa's or The Navigator, which are far more comfortable to sit for long periods of time.
I'd say give Woody's a try but not at the expense of the others along the front, or the most excellent local grill rooms which are a great alternative to a full...
