I’m happy I visited this place so I now know it’s not worth the buzz. Somewhat decorated between an orthodox monastery and a Greek tavern, it’s a unique place but… this is where the good part stops. Service is subpar to the price you pay, slow and reckless staff (they dropped dirty cutlery on us while cleaning the table - a nonchalant “I’m sorry” was mumbled). This is surprising given the high numbers of staff they have. The pasta portions are way too big, drowned in butter and cream (never heard of “less is more”) to the point my isophagus was screeching for a hose down with the €2 bottle water they failed to tell us we had to pay for when the bill came. In response to some delirious comments, no, this is not a traditional Italian restaurant. I doubt the pasta is fresh, which doesn’t explain the 40min wait for a dish of ravioli. That said, the highlights on the menu were the “horiatiki” and “tyropsomo” (like pizza stuffed with feta cheese). If it weren’t for these two, I would have rated...
Read moreCan’t review the food as I didn’t get a chance to eat there. We showed up without a reservation hoping to eat. There was no greeter or maitre around at all so we sat down at a table the waiter brought us cutlery, plates, water and menus. After 10 minutes a very rude lady came and told us the table was reserved and offered the 5 of us a tiny table for 3 in the sun. We declined and opted to the “self service” option next door. We asked if we could sit at the self service tables, we were told it was absolutely fine to sit there, were given menus and sat down to order. The same rude lady came over after 10 minutes to tell us that table was reserved too. I made the mistake of asking a waiter if there were any later reservations because we’d eat quickly ( we had a small child with us) and he replied very patronisingly that “this isn’t a fast food restaurant you know”. Everyone was very rude - it’s a shame because the food looked ok. Will be spending my...
Read moreStarting off, the place has a unique aesthetic revolving around orthodox imagery and deco. We came because it's the original place to get pasta that has been tossed inside a head of cheese. We tried the pizza with the gorgonzola which was light as a feather and crispy like heaven, the dough the thinnest i've seen. A proper first plate if i've ever had one. Then... the pasta came. I had the papardelle with chicken, mushroom, smoked regatta, sun dried tomatoes, and cheese sauce. Each bite was an experience, I couldn't get enough! It made my cooking feel bland (and, I realize you don't know me or my cooking, but I don't say that easily). Pasta was cooked to perfection, the balances between the different ingredients were precise, the dish was incredible. I highly recommend at least one trip to this restaurant! Only fault I could find the music is... a choice, for sure 😅 5/5, would...
