Psipsina — Restaurant in Municipality of Palaio Faliro

"Psipsina" or ΨΙΨΙΝΑ (Greek language). I had heard and read at magazines about that place but I never had tried so I decide to visit for first time with one of my best friend. We went for lunch and we tried some very good dishes. It's a seafood restaurant not only with fresh fish but with some treasures for those who are looking for special and hard to find seafood. We tried many dishes like: homemade made eggplant smoked salad which were good but it needs some more attention if they want to be great, we had a delicious homemade also "Tarama" which were just delicious. Then we had the famous 'Αχινό' its like sea urchin fresh like taste the sea. Then we tried fresh morning catching shells 🐚 and I give 10/10. We get grilled Octopus 🐙 which were really good, we had one of the best ever grilled Calamari and I'm saying One of the best ever, we had 2 more than fresh,lime masterpiece grilled red mullet (mullet), they were so fresh so delicious. We tried boiled veggies like broccoli 🥦, cauliflower, carrots 🥕, potatoes and seasonal green salad 🥗. The grilled bread 🍞 with olive 🫒 oil and salt were crunchy and you couldn't resist. Also we had 'Dolmas' which are a traditional Greek recipe with yogurt on the side 10/10. The wine list is good with good options but I believe that they can and to be honest they should add more white wines and varieties. Atmosphere were nice with all kind of guests like couples, families, kids reminds a family and relaxed atmosphere. Decor it's what it should be with items from the sea and from fishing boats. Service were friendly and polite always with a smile. I couldn't forgot the dessert that I have to say that all were homemade and were 8/10. I am in shock… 1 - chairs have LIQUIDS ( let’s say like this) from birds

2 - 25 euro ( half a kilo) of fish that was SO SO oily that u can’t even imagine….. it’s breaking without even a touch! And instead of giving as a compliment normal plate they bring me not fresh fruits that cost 2 euro ( mandarin that u can take from the tree)…

3 - ouzo 9,80??? When periptero ( supermarket) has it for 5?! Do u respect people at all?!

I would never ever come again and I totally don’t recommend this place!

ANSWER to the tavern 👋

Your reference to "birds' stomach issues" of course they will have stomach issues when they can taste your food… The fish served was excessively oily, and it is reasonable for a customer to point out that such preparation can cause discomfort. Instead of addressing this valid concern, you chose to ridicule it, which is unacceptable.

A clean and welcoming dining area is a basic expectation for any tavern - like you are and of course restaurants. The outdoor seating being situated near a road with passing cars raises legitimate concerns about dust and hygiene. This is not the standard one would expect from a “restaurant” that values its reputation and its guests' comfort.

The way you respond to customer concerns is particularly troubling. Your tone lacks respect and professionalism, and instead of taking the feedback constructively, you appear defensive and dismissive. A restaurant’s ability to grow and succeed depends on its willingness to listen to and learn from its customers. I travel to Athens from Canada very often. With so many choices of restaurants to choose from, I continue to return to Psipsina.

The array of delicious fresh and beautifully prepared shellfish and other offerings from the sea, consistently exceeds my expectations in freshness, variety, preparation and presentation.

The staff here, all of them, are absolutely delightful, committed to my experience and within just a few minutes, I was feeling as though I was a cherished member of a family.

I highly recommend this quiet, spacious and intimate restaurant to locals and travellers alike.

Update July 2022

I have to shout out again to this wonderful restaurant, and especially the staff. It is my first return since the fall of 2021 – I was greeted with smiles, hugs and cheers. Being back was being with family, at home, just in a more beautiful and authentic, relaxing setting.

As always, the culinary experience is exquisite. I swear, the best sea offerings of anywhere. Caught fresh (that morning) and thanks to Christo the grill master, grilled to perfection, then presented as it would at any special Greek family gathering.

Thank you again all of you, you truly do epitomize the experience and spirit of Greece, and the Greek people. Bravo!
