Cafe Italiano — Restaurant in Municipality of Paxos

I did not know what I was expecting when I sat down here, but the food was a total surprise. Authentic, Italian food inside Greece. Everything was extremely fresh and made inside the restaurant (including the gnocchi, from scratch). Cheese gnocchi had subtle blue cheese flavor it in, and had a delicious sauce. Carbonara was authentic and cooked al dente perfectly. Seafood platter was extremely fresh (including the salad which the tomato's even had a fresh taste) with incredible prawns, very well cooked tuna, squid was not bad, and very tasty overall. Coffee was not well mixed and sugar wasn't dissolved but it was very good. Tiramisu was delicious. Service was attentive and thoughtful, and food didn't take too long to come. Only complaint is that the food was expensive for the portions, but it was enough to fill the entire table in terms of hunger and everything was delicious and fresh, so if you are looking for an Italian restaurant in Paxos this is the place to go. Amazing food and amazing people who work here. If you are coeliac, they are the best restaurant in Paxos to take care of you. They understand cross-contamination very well. Their gluten free spaghetti was also the best gluten free pasta I have ever had! I loved the aglio e olio the best. The lovely woman Fiona who owns the restaurant also told us about the chocolate brownies that they serve usually which is gluten free, but they did not have it at the time as the oven was broken. She decided to write down the recipe for us on the receipt so that we could make it when we get home instead, because I couldn’t miss out on it! I can’t wait to make...

Perfect for a family dinner, especially if you are celiac. Greek restaurants tend to know what the food and general needs for a celiac are, but they fail to understand the concept of contamination. Instead here the owners knew exactly what to do and how to prepare a gluten free meal for us, letting us enjoy a meal with no worries.
