50 shades of grill — Restaurant in Municipality of Platanias

So glad we stumbled into this gem- on a street lined by many touristy restaurants and bars, this place looks unassuming from the outside but was an amazing dining experience. We sat on the outdoor veranda with a view of the ocean and the food was amazing and super reasonably priced. My mom and I shared the Cretan salad and the fish of the day and my brother had chicken souvlaki. But the best part was when we started chatting with waiter, Yiorgos, and told him that it was my brother's birthday... He started bringing out carafes and carafes of ice cold Raki on the house and starts taking shots with us for the rest of our meal. Then he brings out Raki for the Swedish couple next to us and they get in on it too. Then he leaves a pitcher of Raki on our table and takes a drink with us every 5 minutes or so! We were having so much fun that some people on the veranda of the restaurant next door to us kept looking on enviously.... he said their motto is here you pay for the water but not the Raki 😂😂

Aside from the food being awesome, the ambience and people who work here were fantastic and made us feel like family. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back next time...

Me and my friends visited Platanias during the off season, end of March till early April and decided to try this place out. Lefteris (the owner) has been a great host since we got here. We went from strangers to family and we found ourselves going here almost every day.

Since it was slower he was able to hang out w me and my friends. The food here is delicious and they use only fresh and quality ingredients and you can taste it in every bite. We had almost all of the menu and every thing was delicious so you can't go wrong! One night we also drank Rakis for hours and ended up going home at 5am. He also gave me the full Greek experience w providing fresh lobster that he just caught the night before and also did a full wine tasting experience w menu paired for the wine.

This place is amazing and I'll gladly come back.

We ate here a couple of times in the end because it was so good. First of all - the grilled dishes were absolutely delicious. Everything wonderfully cooked and fresh and the restaurant has a really nice atmosphere. But the best thing… the service!! Lefteris was a super star!!! We’d been after loukoumades for a while but hadn’t seen them on a menu anywhere - so we asked if they had them 😂 They didn’t have them on the menu (but should!!!) but the team said to give them a couple of hours notice (for the dough to rise) and the chef will cook them for you. So we did! Absolutely delicious and it was just an all round, fun happy place to eat and spend an evening. Highly recommend! And if your after loukoumades, pop in a couple of hours before you plan to eat - I’m sure they will be...
