Terrazza — Restaurant in Municipality of Rethymnon

After visiting the fort the day before and on the rd back down to the town saw the lovely bbq being set up and meat slowly cooking ( slow roast style lamb, chicken & pork)… So, it was our last day beginning of October and being a kiwi i fancied some lamb for lunch…remembered this place…. We arrived to a chaotic restaurant, were seated, but warned that we could be waiting a while, as apparently three staff were sick/hasn’t showed up for work that day… quickly ordered a beer and water for my wife sadly it arrived 15 minutes later… with a frantic head waiter apologising…. The restaurant was full and 2 staff running around like headless chickens, other tables walking out ( sick of waiting ) or demanding bill… Anyway enough said about that… we finally ordered after about 1/2 hrs wait and soon after our mains arrived…. My wife had a simple tasty salmon bagel and me the gorgeous, succulent lamb on the bone (slow cooked bbq style )with sautéed potatoes and chargrilled Mediterranean vegetables, all done on the barbecue absolutely mouthwatering and delicious… A nice glass of local red wine… The view on terrace overlooking city was nice… I felt sorry for the restaurant with the staff situation but that didn’t discourage us, and the food was absolutely superb…. I highly recommend the barbecued roast lamb. If we come to Crete again, we’re definitely revisit this...

Brilliant, just brilliant. Before you are on the restaurant terrace, the owner of the restaurant (Nikos) comes to greet you with a friendly hand and makes you feel welcome.

The service was great, nothing overly special but just perfect for the place, which itself has a beautiful location. Near the venetian fort with a beautiful view over the city of Rethymno.

In two days, we've went twice to restaurant Melina and we've both ordered from the grilled meat menu, the only place in town who serves meat like this. The mixed barbecue consist of chicken, pork and lamb which are beautifully roasted and rich in flavor. An absolute most try!

After a beautiful dinner, Nikos offers you his "Holy Water", which tastes delicious and is the perfect ending to a beautiful evening full of great food, nice wine and flawless service.

This place is for me highly recommendable and we've had the experience of a lifetime, twice. The price is more then reasonable and definitely worth the product.

This place is perfect for a romantic night, family dinner or just a quick bite. They will welcome you with open arms and take good care of you. If we come back to crete, this place is definitely on our to-do list.

My partner, daughter and I had walked past this venue during the day when a worker kindly said hello and asked whether we would like to dine in, without being pushy. We said we had just eaten and weren’t looking to dine in. He kindly accepted our response and engaged in genuine conversation with us. After a pleasant conversation we said we could return the next night with the rest of our family who were yet to fly into Crete. So glad we did, what a wonderful reception from every single staff member, we felt like royalty dining here. So friendly and accommodating, even when we asked for extras of yoghurts, cucumbers etc. for the little one to snack on whilst we waited for mains (which were so delicious, perfectly seasoned and cooked), we had the fire roasted meats , salads, feta wrapped in filo (so delicious and to die for), etc. the staff also did shots of Raki with us (free of charge), and as we were on our way out another kind staff said to wait a few minutes as they wanted to surprise us with some wonderful desserts (chocolate cake and orange cakes with icecream). We can’t recommend this place enough, what a wonderful night...
