Not Happy! The restaurant looks nice and has a nice vibe. First we were quite happy with our choice but that changed. We ordered quickly and had drinks and like many other tavernas they gave us a little appetizer on the house which was nice. Unfortunately 30minutes after ordering, it appeared that they forgot our order. We could clearly see that the waitress realized it but didnt mention it to us. The result was that we (group of 4) received our dishes seperately as it seemed they were sending the food as soon it was ready. The first meal came 50‘ after the order, the second and third after 55‘ and the last one came when the others of us were almost or complety finished with the meal. We knew they forgot the order because the couple next to us had the same meal as one of us and it came 30’ earlier. (They ordered 3min prior to us) This is unacceptable, they should have told us they forgot the order and maybe excuse themselves, we would have understood and wouldnt have been angry.
The food was not bad but also not great. The risottos were below average. We were not very happy with the situation and the service, even the cleaning of the table and empty plates took ages. The waiter even asked kinda offensive why one of us didnt finished their meal.
We were stating the problems and told them about what we didnt like when paying but there was no excuse whatsoever. It seemed they didnt care.
Two other small things: the lemonade was just a fanta lemon on the menu the second beer is advertised with 500ml, it was only 33cl
I guess we had just bad luck and maybe next time it would be better but the service is crearly very...
Read moreQuaint and cosy, extremely friendly family-run restaurant. Vassili's son who served us (George) made it the highlight meal of our whole week in Crete, he was so kind, funny and child-friendly. It is located away from the masses, higher up in the Old Town, tables also set along the alley up along the outside wall. We opted to sit inside due to the evening breeze. The menu is small but seasonal and there are fresh salads and catches of the day available. We recommend the fava bean purée with tomatoes and onions, that was a highlight of our week-long trip. The other dishes we ordered were cooked with lots of care. Dessert was the best we had throughout the week (loukomades) and we got a bottle of raki instead of a shot, which was really generous. I met a woman in the kitchen while headed to the loo and complimented the food and she was very grateful and showed appreciation of the acknowledgement. We would definitely come back here next time we...
Read moreA very nice and cosy restaurant in the hill above the old town. The menu is small, but the food is so delicious - they know their cusine! We were three people who shared 7 different dishes, and we got so full! And the housewine was awesome - and so much better than the housewine that we had at other restaurant.
As you can see of the attached pictures, I esp. recommend the homemade potatochips, the village sausages, the baked feta with tomatoes and onions, the tomatosalad and the baked lamb!
It's a family owned restaurant. The family and the other staff was very welcoming and friendly. The owner himself thanked...
