The property was extremely lovely. The location and the room were perfect. The restaurant was beautiful and for the majority, everything was very nice. (4/5)
However, there was an unfortunate incident. My partner and I were in the hotel buffet line to have breakfast, and the buffet manager accused us of not being hotel guests in front of the whole restaurant. After showing them our key card, they did not seem to get the message, and I had to explain the reservation name and our hotel room, and asked them to go check with the front desk. They came back, and still in front of the whole buffet, told us our room did not come with a complimentary breakfast, and the hotel would need to charge the room 8 euro. That was more than fine with us, especially since that is common in every other hotel we stayed at, without being singled out and embarrassed. Furthermore, we did not witness other hotel guests being confronted as we were. Sadly, I believe we were confronted for two reasons: Firstly, because we are young, in our early twenties, and did not fit the mold of the average age of the hotel guests. Secondly, my girlfriend is of non-Caucasian ethnicity, and we are both dark skinned, again not the typical guests at the Palazzino Di Cornia. It is unfortunate this happened, because it had not happened to us priorly in Greece, or in a long time in general. The buffet manager should have asked us to confirm ourselves as hotel guests in a manner much more appropriate considering the setting, and we could have resolved any additional payment...
Read moreMy wife and I have stayed at the Palazzino di Corina on three occasions in the last three years and it has become one of our favourite small hotels. ||It's perfectly situated in, what I guess are a number of converted old town houses, close to the charming harbour, with its fine selection of bars and restaurants, the hotel has an ideal location in Rethymnon!s old town. Although it is largely situated in some relatively quiet streets and alleyways, it is very close to the bustling old town, with its selection of shopping, sightseeing and dining opportunities. It's also just 15 minutes walk from the lovely sandy beaches. ||The interior of the hotel is quirky but very comfortable, with all the rooms different from each other. We've stayed in three different rooms, all of which were spacious, well furnished and very pleasant. Being tucked away in the narrow streets of the old town, don't expect spectacular views, but this doesn't detract from the quality of the stay. ||There's a very picturesque garden area in a courtyard at the centre of the hotel, with seating, sunbeds and a small pool for cooling down in. ||Breakfast was included in our stays which consisted of an excellent selection of hot and cold food. The Hotel also has its own open air restaurant, which is open to the public, which we've used on several occasions and found to be very good.||Combine all of the above with excellent service and friendly staff and it's not hard to see why we love this Hotel so much and would have no hesitation in...
Read moreOriginally when I arrived my initial thoughts were what a quaint, historic property and I received a lovely welcome and then I saw my room.||I had booked and economy room for 1 night and on reflection I was grateful it was just a single night. I had no epectations beyond a clean room similar to online photos. The room was located on the ground floor and faced the street. Unfortunately this meant the curtains had to remain closed 24/7 to get any privacy. The room was not clean and there was a significant amount of dust. There were a number of broken items in the room and the grout in the bath was so mouldy I couldn't not bring myself to use it. I got the impression that the room was opened last minute which would have explained the dust and broken items. In addition the area across from my room seemed as if it was used for open storage , it was filled with spare bedding amongst other things.||Breakfast the next day was average at best and quite basic and the choice was not great. The littke courtyard was |a nice space to sit down in however. Overall I felt the money paid even for an economy room was not justified at the very least the room should have been clean and in...
