Read moreLast night we decided to try something new and ventured into Pefkos’ newest restaurant, 1912, for a meal, and I’m so glad we did. I know lots of people have already posted what they’ve eaten here, and I can truly understand why. We had such an exceptional meal, with equally exceptional local wine and service. Although the food isn’t your traditional taverna-style meal, you can tell they have really kept traditional Greek flavours and recipes at the heart of their menu, which marries so well with the story and concept of their restaurant, which you will read all about when you visit! To start we had the Fried Tomato Balls (one of my favourite mezze plates!!) and Burekakia (fried, spiced beef mince and aubergine rolls- to me, almost like a mini fried moussaka) to share. I had the Chicken, stuffed with Cretan Graviera cheese and my partner had the Veal cooked in Wine with mashed potatoes. We’ve been talking about our visit ever since last night, so you can tell it was an immensely enjoyed experience! Like many of you we are creatures of habit and have our favourite restaurants in Pefkos which we return to over and over, but I really urge you all to give 1912 a go, as it was such a special evening and I appreciated their unique take on traditional Greek taverna cuisine. It felt like a proper treat for us! Oh, and the complimentary lemon liqueur to end the meal...
Read moreIncredible food, amazing service, and a creative menu cooked with love. We came to Pefkos for 6 days and made a point of having dinner here twice. Best tuna carpaccio we’ve ever had, light citrus-y flavours garnished with carefully piped avocado cream (I could have eaten a bowl of the avocado cream alone it was unreal). We both opted for the Veal main— the veal truly melts in your mouth and is garnished with delicious marinated okra (who knew I liked okra?). After the meal, we ordered another tuna carpaccio starter for dessert.. we just couldn’t get enough. The second visit, we decided to mix it up and try more menu items— went for the Octopus starter (stunningly authentic dish) and Lamb papardelle (ultimate comfort food) and the Sea Bream— both incredible. Highly recommended for anyone on holiday looking to treat themselves. The atmosphere is like being in an enchanted fairy tale garden. The owner came by to say hello after our meal, he’s a young innovative culinary artist who’s constantly challenging himself to make complex dishes with simple ingredients and it’s clear he’s entirely in his element. We took so many pictures of the tuna carpaccio and have since embarked on a journey to recreate it at home. HIGHLY recommended. Wine lovers— try...
