Antṓnēs — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

We visited this restaurant twice during our holiday on Rhodes. The food was very good and the atmosphere pleasant. Prices are average to slightly higher compared to other restaurants we tried on the island.

However, we noticed two negatives during both visits. First, as a group of two, we felt that the staff gave much more attention to larger groups. With us, the service was limited to taking the order, bringing the food, and that was it. On one occasion, they even brought the main course without clearing the plates from the starters, which left the impression of weaker service.

Second, while paying by card is possible, the process was a bit uncomfortable. The terminal was handed to us with preset tip options in Greek. Since we don’t speak Greek, it was unclear whether the last lines referred to leaving a custom tip or none at all. The waiter just stood waiting for our reaction without explaining, which felt a little awkward. When I asked if it could be switched to English, I was told it wasn’t possible.

If you are looking for an amazing Greek Taverna on the Island of Rhodes, Greece. I highly recommend Antonis kitchen restaurant located in Ialysos Rhodes, Greece. The food is consistently fresh and is delicious. Upon entering the staff are attentive and deliver outstanding customer service. The menu offers a great selection of appetizers, entrees and drinks. It should be noted I am originally from Dublin, Ireland, lived in the United States for over thirty years, served with the United States Marines all over the world and travelled all over the United States of America. This place is set off the road so not easily seen but has lots of parking available at the front. The service was fantastic from the moment we step foot in the restaurant, these guys go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and looked after whilst dining with them. We had our drinks and food order taken in good time and there wasn’t a long wait, they were always on hand if you needed something. We ordered a baked feta starter with garlic bread and mixed souvlaki and lamb kebabs for main. The food was good, well cooked and good quality. I would only say there were a lot of chips and rice and I struggled to eat it all (but I’d rather that than not enough and it is probably because we had starters too!).
