What to say about Mourella? Well firstly we were staying in the area for 5 days and we came here 3 times it was so good.
The ladies running the front of house are the most charming, funny, welcoming and hospitable hosts you could wish for. The Cat - Tigre - is also excellent company during lunch or dinner :) The outside terrace is beautiful both during the day and night.
Over the three times we ate there, we got a good overview of the menu as we ate a lot of their dishes, all of which were absolutely delicious. Fresh, traditional (also some with a non-traditional twist) and very tasty!
The nice thing was that each time we went, the ladies all remembered us and came over to chat and generally shoot the breeze with us, it really made for such a memorable experience. They even brought us some of their delicious chilli oil and homemade grape jam to take away - such a generous thought and a lovely personal touch.
I love this place - my wife does too. Do go and visit (multiple times!) you won't be...
Read moreI do not recommend this restaurant! We came (2 people) at 2:20 p.m., 40 minutes before closing. The staff were dissatisfied, we felt that they were dissatisfied that we came 40 minutes before closing time... We said, that we would eat and leave at 3 p.m. We ordered a few simple dishes from the menu, water and wine in a carafe. The grilled octopus was sour and hard, we didn't eat it at all, the tzatziki was completely unseasoned, the wine and water were served in a large cooler, after removing the water, the carafe fell over and the water from the cooler poured into the wine. No one took care of us (we were the only guests) and no one asked why we didn't eat the octopus or drink the wine... We felt like intruders, uninvited guests... Maybe we were punished by serving bad food??? We know Greek cuisine and Greek hospitality very well, this place contradicted...
Read moreAt 8 o'clock the restaurant was almost empty and yet our waitress took a long time to serve us. The fish soup which cost more than €16 was very stale. The detritus they call fish languishing at the bottom of the bowl had the texture of Christmas turkey in late January. The moussaka would have been most delicious to a 4-year-old who enjoys eating cake for dinner. The cinnamon was overpowering every other flavour. Each little pitta bread was €1.50 I don't care if this is home-made - it is just unleavened bread! the worst bit was the little hustle by the waitress who sold my children desert despite me insisting that we did not want any! You cannot sell desert directly to children despite their parents objections, this just isn't right. If my mother didn't teach me that it was a sin to waste food I would certainly have left the restaurant...
