Nice food but the owner was rude and repeatedly made us feel awkward for using greek we'd been taught by locals as basic but friendly and polite ways of asking for things. Asked for the bill in English as he'd been unhappy with our previous use of Greek.. At which point he refused to give it to us unless we asked in Greek, we explained we'd asked in English as he wasn't happy with our Greek, he said he was joking before.. So we asked in Greek again and he was rude about it despite us clearly really trying, saying we'd got one word right! Only bad experience we've had using the exact same phrases all over the Island, as mentioned taught to us by locals. A family-run tavern for true gourmets. Every dish is prepared by a goddess of the kitchen who truly deserves a Michelin star. Every meal we've ordered at this tavern delights the taste buds. Each dish carries a touch of fine dining at a reasonable price.

A big thank you to the chef-mom, the son who is very attentive to the guests, and the dad, thanks to whom the tavern always has fresh ingredients. We ordered a delicious grilled squid with lentils and orange sauce, a salad with three types of quinoa, avocado, mango, and grilled shrimp, as well as meze, dolma, and more. This is the best taverna in Stegna, the food and service are excellent!!! We went there everyday for 14 days and tried nearly the whole menu. My cousin (" the president") has lived in Greece for many years as a guide, and has also been a head waiter in a 5 star restaurant in Norway, said it was the best food he had ever had in Greece. The owner Vasilis, his wife ( the excellent cook) and the grandmother, were always very very nice and always smiling and friendly.
