We had been to the restaurant in August, to arrange our wedding gala. Back then, everything seemed fine. People were easygoing and we spoke to a nice cook whose food we tried and really liked it.
Everything changed in the following few months. As we are living abroad, we didn't have picture of any changes in staff etc. and of course nobody from the restaurant bothered to tell us. What they only did instead was to keep changing the prices and rather than giving us a price per person, put us into the process of counting how many meat balls, cheese balls and other appetizers per person would we put in each plate. They also charged us with extra costs if we wanted to bring traditional food and drinks that the restaurant doesn’t serve!
We really wanted to cancel the venue, but we were forced to proceed with it as we had paid a high deposit that they were claiming it was non-refundable (despite the agreement we had signed was not stating such thing) and because they were claiming that if we wouldn't pay the whole amount in advance, they would not be able to serve the food at all.
Despite the owner promised that they would cover the whole restaurant -guess what- they never did, which meant that apart from all the other issues, I had to work out on an alternative plan to put all the guests in the interior space only. When I went to the restaurant myself, I informed the owner about the EXACT structure of the alternative plan, I told him that I would confirm on the day of the wedding on the plan that we would use and we agreed that he would serve welcome drinks to the guests until the time they sat. At the time, the owner was still working on covering the upper side of the external area, again not fulfilling his promise on surrounding the whole restaurant with glass windows.
I went there again three days before the wedding, only to find out that even that upper cover was not ready yet and that that same owner was absolutely clueless about the alternative plan that I had agreed with him.
Day of the wedding come, I went there and the restaurant was literally all over the place. I told the owner to proceed with the alternative plan and he was like: "What plan are you talking about?". What outraged me most though was that when I asked him on who was responsible to show people their seats he had no clue and said that the guests should sit "wherever they want because they are Greeks". Me and my father ended up arranging the tables ourselves because the staff were clueless on what was happening. I also said that I would send someone to show people where to sit. The problems did not end there though...
Wedding night come and little after I got married, I get a phone call from the person I had sent to show people their seats, saying that the people sat wherever they wanted to because the owner told them that this had been agreed with myself(!!!). As this was not enough, there were NO welcome drinks served, the food quality was rubbish, the staff were fully unorganised and destroyed all the videos as they were passing in front of the wedding table. Also, the drinks and the quality of the wine served were poorer than vinegar. Needless to say that the cook and staff we had talked initially had changed in the meanwhile. I leave in you to guess the reasons.
There's more! the owner forced us to close the music early because he was tired and wanted to go home(!) and little after we left the venue, we discovered that he had put the staff to steal our wedding cake and the liquor that we had given away as a gift to our guests. We called back the following day to claim all these things but (guess what again!) he know nothing about this!
Avoid like a plague, these are just scammers that want to steal your money, exploiting the nice view of the restaurant. They will mock and trick you. If you are thinking of having your wedding gala there, please think again and pick...
Read moreWhat a perfect location. The Grande Blue has 3 rooms, overlooking their private beach and bay, and you can see the sunrise over the sea. Kostas and Marina were great, always smiling and happy to help in every way. When they showed us to our room and pulled back the curtains, wow, what a beautiful site. Every morning Kostas greeted us and served us breakfast, coffee, fruit juice, greek yoghurt with museli and honey, toast, and omelette which we found so filling. On our first evening we ate in the restaurant and were treated to a marvellous meal of fresh fish and greek cuisine. We used the private beach each day, which is pebbly (worth buy the beach shoes from the onsite shop) where the sun loungers and umbrellas are free to staying guests. There is a beach bar and members of the bar will take your orders serve drinks direct to your sun loungers. I have seen some complaints from people not happy that the staff have discouraged people taking there own food, which is hardly surprising as it is a private beach, and they could quite easily go to the more crowded Stegna beach. One evening before we went out, we were treated to seeing a Greek wedding on the beach, with the vows and music into the evening. All in all the Grande Blue is outstanding. Far enough outside Stegna (1km) quiet, your own private beach, great host and good food. We rarely ever consider returning to a location as there is so many others to see, but the Grande Blue has tested that resolve and we're definitely thinking of going...
Read moreIf I could give a zero rating, I would. Our stay was, without a doubt, the worst experience we've ever had while traveling, largely due to the owner's poor handling of the situation. Upon our arrival, we discovered that our three rooms were not ready. While we initially took this in stride and decided to grab lunch, things took a turn for the worse when we returned. We found that none of the rooms had electricity for the entire first night. Unfortunately, there was no one available to assist us or provide any information. The problems continued over the next two nights when we experienced a complete lack of water. When we addressed this issue with the owner, he dismissively stated that it was not his problem, which felt incredibly unprofessional. Additionally, we were misinformed about charging our expenses. We visited the beach and were told we could add a light meal and drinks to our room. Upon returning that night, we were confronted by the owner at midnight, demanding payment. My husband explained that we believed we could settle everything at checkout, but this was met with a hostile response. The owner began cursing and yelling, which frightened my daughter and caused her to cry. This encounter was not only shocking but also deeply distressing. We travel frequently and have never experienced such unprofessional and rude behavior from a hotel owner or staff. It’s unfortunate to have had such a negative experience, especially considering how beautiful...
