Cafe mosaic — Restaurant in Municipality of Sifnos

we were drawn in by a busy courtyard and nice atmosphere but nothing we ordered was any good.

pork bites with peppers and feta? hardly any feta and dry and chewy. chicken bites? smothered in an odd tasting sauce but SO dry. cod bites? what cod? shrimps were mainly shells and tasteless.

we politely picked at the pork and chicken anticipating the fish would be better. when it was not we asked to have these removed from the bill as we had only tried the dishes and they were awful. we were refused. SO awkward, they were so hostile and aggressive, we have never ever done this as we understand hospitality, with my patner being a head chef.

to be clear: this was not a matter of personal taste, the food was bad.

We had to try this place because it was so close to where we were staying and it had such great reviews. Unfortunately disappointing. Taramasalata was extremely bitter and grainy as if it was split, although it was served with nice fresh bread which was the best part of the meal. The smoked fish with potatoes and chickpeas was okay - also pretty bitter tasting. The ‘pork bites’ described on the menu to be accompanied by feta and capsicum came to the table looking like a pork curry with hardly any capsicum or feta. The prawns were boring, not much flavour/lots of the same thing. I ordered an aperol spritz which was so bitter and horrible that I couldn’t drink it, maybe too much aperol or a bad wine used in making it, I wasn’t sure but overall this was very disappointing and more expensive than eating at the Greek tavernas which we...

Really dreadful food. We were unable to eat anything that we ordered as it tasted of nothing. The chicken and pork were super dry, the cod croquettes and prawns were tasteless. When we asked to remove the items from the bill which we hadn't touched, we were met with hostility and told that because we had ordered the food and tried it, it could not be removed from the bill, presumably as they could no longer use it to serve to other guests.. It looks like a lovely place with a nice atmosphere and it's highly rated but unfortunately the food and service was really disappointing. As a head chef myself, I would be embarrassed to serve any of that food and be associated with such poor standards. Avoid at all costs, there are much other nice...
