Our first dinner this year in Vourvourou, great experience, nice restaurant with good views of the sea (if you are lucky or maybe make reservations) we didn't seat right next to the sea but wasn't a problem we could still see it and also hear it if there were waves. Now about the food as this is main reason we go to restaurant, we had fresh calamari, one grilled and one fried they were great, fried one perfectly cooked, grilled one I think 10 seconds too long on the grill but still very good only some parts of it were a little more hard to chew but not too hard, was very good overall. Greek salad also very good fried zucchini are great as we like them thinly sliced and fried until crunchy, some local barrel white wine we got, was a cheap one but it tasted good we liked it. Complimentary desert are some small lollipop icecreams covered in a delicious chocolate. Prices are very good we paid 50 eur for all I said above. We will go again there this week for sure at least one more time, we still want to check out other restaurants nearby also. P. S. If you are in a rush this is also a great place to go for super fast service, I never seen food come so fast when restaurant is fully occupied over 100 people there. It took them I believe less than 15 minutes to bring us everything. UPDATE: second visit this week and service is no longer fast we waited a really long time for someone to come and take the order and another really long time to get the food, let me put some timings, first visit order taken in max 10 minutes and food came in less time, second visit 30 mins for someone to take the order and over 30 minutes to get the food and the restaurant was at same occupancy, all...
Read moreDuring our recent stay in Vourvourou 🇬🇷, we had the chance to dine at Gorgona or Pullman, a charming 🌅 taverna with a relaxed atmosphere and beautiful views of the sea. One of the highlights of our visit was undoubtedly the food – it was not only delicious but also generous in portion sizes, especially the traditional Greek dishes, salads, and side plates. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were authentic and satisfying. It’s definitely a great spot if you’re looking for a hearty and enjoyable meal by the water.
However, there was one major downside to our experience, and it concerned the pricing of seafood sold by weight. I ordered a grilled Skorpina fish, listed at €80 per kilogram. The fish was weighed before cooking – but the portion served was surprisingly small, barely the size of a 🖐️ Yet, I was charged for half a kilogram, which felt disproportionate to what actually arrived on my plate. It left me questioning whether the pricing was fair or if there was some lack of transparency in how it was handled by the staff.
In summary, while the food is excellent and the atmosphere pleasant, I would advise diners to 👀 the weight and 💰💰💰 of seafood before ordering. It’s a shame that such an issue slightly tainted what was otherwise a very enjoyable...
Read moreAlmost absolute disaster. Our waiter and the steamed mussels were then only things that kept me from giving 1 star to this establishment. We were "welcomed" by two separate waiters that had the attitude "you can sit and dine here, or not, we don't care that much". Finally 5mins after we entered there was a free table. We ordered Greek salad, ouzo, grilled calamari, steamed mussels. The salad was super weak - tasteless tomatoes, cucumber, even the onion had no taste, no greek spices in the salad, olives were mediocre, only the cheese was good. The calamari was the next tasteless dish - no oil, no spice, only salt and it tasted almost like roasted pig skin. The mussels were the only decent dish on our table - very good sauce and mussels were big. There was free ice cream as compliment from the restaurant, it was delicious. The place was packed and it didn't look very clean, however the personnel is trying it's best it seems and is very quick. Wouldn't recommend and won't...
