Old School "Kindergarten" — Restaurant in Municipality of Sithonia

Let's see how this place changed for 2 years. Well not good. I am leaving the original review below for comparison. What has changed is they have more seating now however there is no organization and everyone does everything. One person seated us another asked us what language menu we want - 30 mins later we had to ask a 3rd person to ring the menus. Then forth person took our orders and 5th person brought the drinks and the guy that seated us brought the food. Now the food has became mediocre. Prices have gone up between 50¢ and 2euros depending if drinks or food. For the quality of service and food you get I would say this is overpriced - quite overpriced compared to other places in Sarti. The Cretan salad was mainly bread and cheese there wasn't much tomatoes in it. The grilled octopus was nice with a side of a spoonful of quinoa. Then the fried calamari was actually one big calamari deep fried - it wasn't even cut or breaded. The tomahawk steak came with side of prefabricated friend it wasn't even real potatoes... To conclude we wanted about 30-35 minutes formsomeone to bring the menus and 15 more for someone to take our order. Then all the food came within 15 mins...

I was debating whether I should go ve 3 or 4 stars but decided to give 4. The restaurant caught us with its vibe and exterior. Because it seemed very nice and it was full when we passed by. we got to sit there on the second night . I personally think this place is 20-25% more expensive than similar restaurants however quality and service aren't better. I don’t really understand the good ratings for this taverna and I really regret visiting it because of these ratings. I give one star because:

The food is below average. This is my 2nd two weeks stay in Sarti and I can confirm that I like the food better in almost all other tavernas Ive visited. I eat every time the same - greek salad and fish. The salad was Ok, but the fish terrible

2nd reason is the service. I just felt discriminated. I was asked where I am from (Bulgaria- because of the menu language) and then I had to wait long for the food to be delivered - 30 mins for the drinks (juice and bier), 1 hour for the salad, 1,5 for the fish. The main dish for my wife and the kids came 10mins before the salad. It wouldn’t be a big problem (i know that they are very busy) if the service was the same for the 3 tables around, which were occupied by germans. They came after us, got the food and left the restaurant before my fish was delivered - I saw that they ate also a fish. Their drinks were delivered before ours. The service in general was more friendly and polite to them compared to us. Pity is that I got exactly the same bad experience as I got it by my previous visit in Sarti in the other high rated restaurant - Mistralli at the hill, where again the germans got the good service. And funny is that I am actually living in Germany since years and could easily say that I am from Germany and maybe get a better service :)

So in general: it is average food with low service. Also the tables are too close to each other - my wife was complaining all the time that her chair is hit when the waiters...

For this restaurant, you indeed need to have patience, and A LOT of it! Or a Jedi training.. That would be better..

We arrived sometime before 7:30 PM.. First impression was: Nice and really fine looking, cheerful and authentic place etc.. But then.. U have a waiter for drinks only, ok, we can manage that.. then a waiter for food, and then again a different one for paying.. We were waiting to be seated because it was crowded, then there was the thing with the waiters and them not coordinating and communicating so well with each other for orders.. Everything was not organised well, it was chaotic even.. There are many tables and only few hosts..

There were 6 of us.. We waited for our food for more than an hour. It came for everyone at a different time, one by one, so by the time the last of us got our food, almost everyone's food went cold.. The food was fairly good tho, and we enjoyed it..

Then came the time for the check.... Oh wait.. We asked for it 3 times and waited, waited and waited.. My Jedi training was seriously jeopardised, so I am writing this from the mighty and sweet dark side..

You might want to think twice before you visit this lovely place, but you might get lucky with the service too.. There were many people that came after us and finished before us..

P.S. We finally left sometime after 10:00 PM, and prior to leaving we were offered a dessert on the house, for which we did not have time.....
