Taverna Orestis — Restaurant in Municipality of Sithonia

Just left this tavern, actually we've closed it, not ashamed at all. It's a small, family ran business, only opened daily between 17:30 and 22:30 in the summer season. The food is amazing, if you want to check this, look at the people waiting each and every day for the opening time. We've been lucky to get there for the first time late in the evening, if less guests, this family performs a real show, Alexandra (the owner) starring. Philippo, her husband, is the chef (the name might sound like Italian, however, he's 100% greek), he does the hardest work around, as a personal opinion, the food he prepares is the best we've ever had in Greece. The service might be questionable at a first sight, but for us, the taste of everything we've ordered payed off! Dear Alexandra, Philippo and Oreste, we can't wait to meet you all...

we went there on Saturday night I wouldn't say it was busy but there were people. To begin with the organization 2 waiters were running with no direction and trying to please everyone. We had the Orestos special starter which is like a mix of all starters they offer - it was nice. Then I had the pork souvlaki which was a bit undercooked and came with fries my friend had the grilled fish which didn't come with any sides which was weird. And then the waiting began. We waited for someone to notice us to ask for the check and then waited for the check for a while and when we said we wanted to pay with a card, we had to go get inside and wait some more.... Other than that the place is nice and even though it is not in the central area it is very busy at all times. I took one star for the undercooked souvlaki and one...

Overrated restaurant. Nothing special for the food. Grilled octopus and grilled calamari are tasting good and texture is also good. They are served without side dish. No olive oil in the table.. Fishes are not cleaned inside. They are cooked as it is. Greek salad is having not good ingredients. No taste for the tomato’s and to much vinegars inside. Looks like olive oil is missing in the salad as well.

Sardines are not cleaned (intestines inside), also the portions are very small. 8 sardines to the portion.

Waiting time for the food was too long as well.

For people who are used with Greek food and Greek quality this is mid range level.

Lots of cats - fighting between them and also trying to steel the food from the table.

To much overrated...
