Mermaid — Restaurant in Municipality of Southern Corfu

Very disappointed with this Taverna, our experience was massively different to what others have experienced. Welcome was far from friendly; we turned up on our 1st day of a two week holiday and asked about a table for 6 (restaurant was empty) and were made to feel that this was a real inconvenience.

No friendly chat was forthcoming as is so often the case at Greek tavernas and the food was probably the worst we had all holiday. With a friendly greeting and atmosphere would could probably have overlooked the poor food and tried it again, especially as the location is so great. But the welcome was so poor we never went back. Went to visit from the beach there's no access of the beach and to get access to the road means walking through the water. Went to step over the wall which was quite easy and we were refused entry by the route. It would make the place to Sandy. I'm sure walking through the wet edge of the beach and then to the restaurant would have made it even more Sandy but we didn't find out as we decided to go somewhere else. We are looking forward to a good meal which we found at the Bacchus Taverna just up the beach. I hope basil Fawlty enjoys his nice...

We stayed in an apartment next to the restaurant. There we saw the owners dog every day in the backyard on the leach. Nobody ever carried about the dog. The dog was all by him self the hole day. He was crying a lot because he is so looney! That's terrible and hopefully somebody will care for the dog quickly. Under this impression it was not possible for us to eat in this restaurant. Especially since the owner didn't change his attitude towards the dog after talking to...
