Every review I write from my week in Aghios Georgios South will start with the same words. In a relatively sleepy, marvelously Greek and linear beach resort full of rustic charm, it is also very obvious it is understandably doing its utmost to recover after covid. That means many restaurants, cafes, bars and tavernas are closed, empty or struggling with the few people on their holidays as a degree of normality slowly returns. But this will improve of course and I highly recommend you come here.||||Consequently all my reviews, you need to take the above into account.||||Panorama was the first I visited for evening dinner and is probably a classic case in point. Made very welcome and with a table overlooking the Ionian Sea was an excellent start. And like in every restaurant in Greece if you are a lover of warm pitta and dips such as taramasalata and tzatziki you will not be disappointed. And you will struggle to find better feta cheese anywhere in the world.||||But despite it being recommended Panorama's red wine was bordering on undrinkable, cloudy and vinegar like. The seabass was very dry, vegetables so massively overcooked and mushy that if it was your first impression they could be enough to put you off ordering any for the rest of your holiday and prawn saganaki edible. But overall never at any stage did it make me feel like I want to come back.||||But it was ok. And with more patrons and atmosphere as the situation improves I have no doubt it will get better. Read morePanorama was honestly so incredible and it was an incredible place to spend our last night. It's slightly further up the road, but the couple of extra minutes walk is so worth it!
The swordfish, chicken gyros and ribeye steak were cooked to perfection. The dolmades were the best I've ever had. The chocolate souffle was phenomenal. I don't have a single bad word to say. The setting is just beautiful overlooking the sea and we were fortunate to see the sun set. The decor inside is relaxed and modern, very clean too and a comfortable venue. The staff are all wonderful and can't do enough to help or please you.
It's the first place we've been to on the strip which actually uses proper measures when making cocktails! Others I've tried elsewhere have tasted more like mocktails with cheap alcohol.
In a way, I'm gutted I hadn't found this place earlier as we would have visited a couple of times during our stay otherwise as there were lots of options on the menu I wanted to try!
Thanks again, we will be back when we...
Read moreWe have been to pretty much all the restaurants and tavernas in Agios Georgios over the last 15 years as we holiday here every summer. Last visit to this restaurant was a few years ago and staff and food are the same - expensive for what it is.
Good location and service. Kids were hungry so asked for their food first. They happily obliged but were served chicken souvlaki which was not fully cooked. They replaced it as they should.
The bill was in Greek so I couldn't see if they charged for the mouldy bread they served - which they said they didn't and had to take their word for it.
Asked if they could split the bill for two families but as we were paying by card, they said they couldn't and " it's like this all across Greece". That made me write this review.
There are better places around which serve really fresh, tasty seafood and souvlaki...
