We have been coming to Corfu since 2007, we have been to St George's South 7 times and each visit have enjoyed a meal at Seagulls at least twice. First COVID, then changes by TUI, out preferred tour operator, have meant that we have been unable to return for the last 6 years unless we booked all inclusive, which is not what we are looking for in a holiday as we enjoy dining out. Yesterday we visited Seagulls. We were guided to a table overlooking the ocean and, though it was a nice view, in order to look directly at my wife as I spoke to her I had bright sun in my eyes. We ordered drinks and, after they had been delivered a waiter came to take out order. We made our choices then were told that we may experience a long wait as there was a large party of people who had just ordered, no problem, I'm on holiday, I have time on my hands. As we waited, diners arrived at three other tables and placed their drinks orders then food orders. The sun in my eyes was becoming irritating so rather than bother staff by requesting another table I moved my chair around the table 90 degrees. After a short time a member of staff asked if I would move my chair back. As there was only one empty table behind us and access to tables was not restricted I could not understand why she had asked me to move my chair back, though I did as I'd been asked. I would have thought that a customer's reasonable expectation of comfort would have been of greater importance to the minor inconvenience it may have caused waiting staff. I watched on as the three sets of customers who arrived and ordered after us were all served their meals. 45 minutes after ordering, our food finally arrived. I ordered the giant burger, I was expecting a beef burger in a bun with all the usual trimmings. I got a large pate of meat, pork and perhaps beef or lamb which was heavily flavoured with coriander, much like the meat balls you get in an all inclusive hotel only bigger and without the sauce. Fortunately I was able to mask the taste with the barbeque sauce that came with it. So I was much disappointed with this experience comparing it to the very many visits we have made...
Read moreWhat a wonderful hidden gem with stunning views and garden. The owners are super welcoming and friendly. The place is lovely and relaxing, perfect for lunch dinner or just a drink. Food is very good and fresh. Oh and the Corfu beer 😍 On my recent trip to Corfu I have eaten there a couple of times. Both times I was very happy. Even when the island is virtually empty and you see what covid restictions are doing to the tourism industry, the people of Corfu remain positive and smile. Had a lovely chat with the owner and he made us feel so welcome. If you are just passing by or staying in the local big resort, I would reccommnend that you visit this place and support local businesses. Plus you get to see and experience the real Greece outside of your tourist resort. Thank you for your...
Read moreVisited the Sea Gulls last month which has a wonderful location right next to the sea with fantastic sunset views. The food is even more amazing and I had one of the best Klefticos I have ever eaten. A big bag of tender lamb, which had obviously been slowly cooked for hours with lots of potatoes and other vegetables and feta in a soup like dish. A huge meal, which I had again on our final evening. Visited three times in total and had a beautiful beef dish on another evening, which was also delicious. My wife had a beautiful sea bass which was filleted at the table, which is always fun to watch. She also had a lovely seafood dish. Beautiful food at very reasonable prices. Well worth visiting for the Greek music evening too. A must...
