Pizzeria Alex Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Southern Corfu

Mixed feelings about this one. The quality does not match the price. While the service was great, the food leaves a lot to be desired. They have a pizza oven across the street, but the dough was quite hard and chewy. The pizza came with canned mushrooms and was loaded with gouda cheese. Not something I desire on a pizza. It was 15€. Calamari seemed like a store-bought frozen product that was just deep fried lacking any sort of flavour or texture. The not-so-complimentary bread was a whole-grain toast bread (which didnt even come toasted, why bother?) served with what seemed like the cheapest butter mixed with raw garlic. The music was way too loud as well. But I have to give props to the owner for having a great personality and charisma. As previously said, the service is great, but unfortunately this restaurant is way too expensive given the quality of the food. There are better options...

Visited Pizzeria Alex last month as we had seen such good reviews. We had a wonderful table right next to the sea. We had a traditional fungi and ham pizza and also a hot Spiros pizza and borh were amazing but the hot one was out of this world. Thin base absolutely delicious. We've visited Italy twice and we've never had such a good pizza. As we left we thanked Alex and I jokingly asked him if he was Italian as I said I wouldn't be surprised as we've not had as good a pizza in Italy, and of course he said no I'm Greek. Unfortunately visited near the end of the holiday otherwise would definitely have returned. This is a must...

Was a very pleasant and natural experience. Pizza was amazing and Kokkinisto, the Greek dish with beef was so delicate, tender and flavourful. I suggest trying food at least once here, as Alex the owner of this place says "I'm sure you'll like it" 😁

Update: Tried Stifado and Seafood Spaghetti, I have to say that it's amazing. In my opinion this place Alex and Alex himself represent what I think of Greece to look and feel like. Its cosy, warm, sound of the sea and friendly atmosphere just makes you smile. It is an experience...
