Probably one of the worst meals I’ve had in my life given the high expectations we have from the look of this place. Always full and they were quick on seating us when we came as walk in (as they were full). The food was so awful and I mean it from a seasoning perspective as well as cooking perspective. We live in Greece so we are familiar with Greek food. Most tavernas you eat decent. The tarama was weird in taste and we were told it’s symi tarama, the waiter couldn’t explain what was in it as he didn’t speak English. It simply said tarama on the menu so we didn’t know that. The grilled calamari came cold with artificial lemon flavoring and Parmesan even though it simply said grilled calamari on the menu. The cuttlefish in its ink with rice came as a salty risotto with chewy cuttlefish. The list goes on. The only decent dish was the seasonal greens. We don’t mind mind innovative cuisine if you can get it right otherwise stick to basics. And always add main ingredients to the menu or explain when ordering. Not a place for traditional nor...

Long review: Very nice outdoor restaurant located on the cliffs with excelent views over the Ano Symi. However despite praises our experience did not meet the expectations and the general reviews. The service was not great, only 1 person speaks English and has very direct style of communication. On question about recommendations for food, we were given short answer that everything is home made and everything is good. After the dinner and few days, We join the ranks of few of the people who were dissapointed with the food, which was bland and without any taste. We had 4 different courses and they all lacked of seasoning and any taste. It is hard to rank this restaurant because the food was not bad nor it was good. It simply was, but it evoked no emotions.
After 5 days on Symi I can say this was the worst restaurant we...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Tholos Greek Restaurant, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The ambiance is warm and welcoming, making it the perfect spot for both casual meals and special occasions. The menu features a fantastic selection of traditional Greek dishes, and everything we ordered was bursting with flavor. The moussaka was rich and hearty, while the grilled octopus was perfectly tender and seasoned. Don’t miss their tzatziki; it’s the best I’ve ever tasted! The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our meal. They also offered great recommendations from the menu, which enhanced our dining experience. Overall, Tholos is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Greek cuisine. I can’t wait to return and try more of their delicious...
