Lunch at Aspro Dentro was a genuinely unforgettable experience, which we renewed with pleasure even though the city of Thessaloniki is clearly not lacking in terms of restaurants, and we did try many! The setting is pleasant and airy, the music enjoyable without being too present, the service efficient, polite, and enthusiastic, and the food... is to die for! Think delicious Greek classics, with an exquisitely unexpected twist, which will enchant your taste buds as well as boggle your mind... You'd never have thought of such pairings, but they make perfect sense as soon as you taste every dish you were lucky enough to order: the baked eggplant was always meant to be accompanied by leeks and sweet potato, the fasolia gigantes are beautifully complimented by the chunks of pickled leeks, and the grilled mushrooms shine when mixed with bulgur in a scrumptious vegan dish... Don't even get me started on the desserts, which are either original (sweet tahini paired with chocolate and orange? Yes, please!) or well-known (the New York company cheesecake blew my mind!), but equally delicious. It's a very beautiful, cozy and friendly place. The food is incredible and there are so many vegan and vegetarian options for those who are not meat eaters. It also has a big beautiful room behind the restaurant for theatre,dance rehearsals or even for seminars. All the products that Mr. Antonis (the owner) makes are freshly made with μεράκι. The White Tree can organise parties for kids or adults where you can choose from the buffet menu what dishes suits your occasion best, and they are of course freshly made and very delicious. And for the kids parties, the theatre room behind the kitchen can be booked so your kids will have fun playing with a teacher.
