Beautiful, clean easy to navigate and very modern metro with archeological finds which are absolutely astonishing and out of this world :) ( especially in Venizelou metro station) One 60 mins ride cost 0.60 cents, you can see how people handling the tickets over to others cos the ticket has still value after short ride( 60 mins) Be aware however the Metro is new YOU CAN NOT PAY tickets BY CARD not even through " office person"! + TICKET MACHINE ACCEPT ONLY 10 EU NOTES! That was our first time going down to the new Thessaloniki metro station. It has this feeling of a newly built facility: clean and modern, large spaces that are supposed to handle big streams of people. At the time it was almost empty except for occasional groups interested in reading the information and watching the presentation about this subway. The cool thing is that there are different layers of excavations- Hellenic period, Roman, Ottoman and those periods are clearly marked so you can see the depth of history.
