I wish we had started our Santorini eat outs with this unpretentious neighborhood restaurant instead of the overpriced "cool" places...

Located in semi rural Karterados, very close to the also unpretentious hotel we stayed in, we had a tasty and filling late night dinner literally by the street, much less noisy and crowded than Fira or Oia.

Including a complimentary dessert we didn't have anywhere else on any Greek island restaurant.

Only comment is, the leisurely but folksy waiter will try to make you order one of the precooked plates exposed in buffet style trays. I wasn't interested in any so he kept going with the "freshly cooked" menu, of which I picked the grilled calamari which was delicious. But a young couple was taken aback by the precooked stuff and left without eating. In summary, if you insist you'll...

This restaurant was the best part of our trip to Santorini. The food was absolutely excellent, the service staff was kind and welcoming, and the ambiance of the restaurant was cozy compared to the rest of Santorini. We were staying close by in Karterados and ate supper there both nights we were on the island. Both nights there were different traditional Greek dishes being served and the owner brought us to see the options directly at the kitchen window. We’ve never had better service at a restaurant in Greece. The staff was accommodating and seemed genuinely happy to receive guests. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough, it is a can’t miss...

The attitude was terrible. We were traveling from Spain and because we couldn't speak the language, we didn't understand what the waiter meant when we settled the bill. We just nodded our heads as usual. Later, maybe we needed to pay by card and we didn't bring any cash with us. The waiter with a mental problem immediately turned aggressive towards us. We were confused and went in to find the boss. He was still aggressive towards us. We had to talk to the boss, but he continued to be aggressive towards us. We couldn't stand it anymore and started swearing at him. It was a good trip, but we encountered such...

This restaurant was recommended to us from our hotel for being good, authentic and inexpensive and we didn't really find it to be any of those things. Everything was quite bland and needed quite a bit of salt. It's also in a rather worn out part of Santorini so there isn't really much else in the area to do or look at. Maybe there are better dishes than the ones we ordered, but the Greek salad was mostly giant pieces of onion, the chicken and rice were dry and overcooked, the pasticio was flavorless and the fried feta had WAY, WAY, WAY too much honey poured on top. Definitely not worth the walk from Thira.

We had dinner here two nights while in Santorini, both times it was delicious! Night 1 we shared stuffed eggplant and pasticio. Both were really good, the eggplant in particular was melt-in the mouth and full of lovely, juicy flavour. Night 2 we shared a Greek salad, spit roast lamb and a baklava. The lamb was the most tender I've ever had anywhere and the baklava was nice and fresh and not sickly sweet. Nóstimo - highly recommend this authentic, down to earth restaurant for meals that are full of flavour and service that is warm and friendly!
