Stayed here with the SO during the peak season so the price was expensive as expected, but the place was good for it.||||Location was great. Karterados is centrally located in the island, so it's easy to get to Oia/Fira or down to Perissa or Kamari if you have a set of wheels. If you rely on bus, you'll have to get to Fira and then take a bus to wherever it is you're going. Also very close to the airport. If you can manage it, would definitely recommend getting a car or scooter while you're here though. To Fira, it's about a 20-25 minute walk, and to the main road's bus stop, about a 15 minute walk. There's a small convenience store 3 minutes' walk away and a grill to get souvlaki/gyros about 5 minutes away (very cheap and still good). Plenty of street parking.||||From the airport to the accommodation, it's quite easy - take the bus and get off at Karterados. To the ferry port, though, you'd have to go to Fira and then Athinios (about 5 euros per person i believe). If you need transport, it's probably easier to just ask Maria/Eva how much they charge to take you there (15-25 euros i reckon)||||Bedroom was spacious and clean, and had a kitchen sink with some cups to use. Balcony was nice to have but we didn't use it much. Request for the 2nd floor facing the ocean for a better view. Bathroom was so-so but it worked for us. The sky is pretty nice during the sunrise if you face the ocean. AC was good and wifi was decent. Housekeeping came each day we were there. We stayed in room 10 which is the first one you see when you enter on the main level.||||Checking in was a bit problematic at first - there's a sign for the building where the rooms are located, but the "front desk" (owner's house i believe?) is in a different building (not marked) on the corner. You'll probably have to ask someone around and they'll point it out to you. Once you find it, though, you'll meet Maria and Eva who are both very friendly and helpful. Before I arrived, Eva was very quick to reply to any questions I had via email. You can get breakfast from them for 5 euros/person.||||Also, we arrived very early around 830am and since the previous guest was checking out, they let us check in and had the room ready by around 930am so that was very lucky. Request for it if you already know when your flight/ferry timing will be.||||There's also access to a pool for guests but it's about 1km away at the Stavros Hotel. Looks decent from the pictures (especially in this hot weather) but we didn't get a chance to go.||||Overall, a good stay and would recommend for...
Read moreI’m between the ages of 18-25, and am a female, traveling solo with another friend around the same age. We both had a good time here. The rooms were super clean (had a few flies inside because the balcony door was open when we arrived). The bathroom was also very clean. There was AC and our room came with our own little private balcony. The lady who runs the place is so kind, and tries her best to help answer any questions you have. She does speak minimal English however, so just keep questions simple. Initially, the location felt like it wasn’t ideal, but after exploring a bit I learned there were some great restaurants nearby, a minimart around the corner, and the main bus station a 15 minute walk away. The swimming pool on the facility is not available for use, but there is one at a different villa 15 minutes walk away. There is no nearby beach - you’d need to take the bus to get there. Overall, a great place to stay, but you just have to put in a little bit of work to see the different sites...
Read moreWe stayed 3 nights in Karterados, a nice peaceful village about 20min walking from Fira the capital. Nice area to stay for visiting North and South Santorini. Bus facilities at 5min from the guesthouse, and also the best bakery of the island "Erotokritos". You can rent quad, scooter, car easely... Our room was nice, clean and calm. No noise from outside. Maria was very friendly, it was a pleasure to spend few moments with her during the breakfast (5€/person). She prepared a homemade jam with grapes from Santorini, a must try! The transfert from/to the ferry was 10€/person, it's maybe a bit expensive but we stayed at the beginning of august so must be ok for this season. An advice for the guesthouse, it will be nice to have a fresh bottle of water in the fridge at the check-in (after a long trip)! We really recommend this place. Thanks a lot Maria, Jessica and Thibaut, a french happy couple. And of course, Santorini is...
