Captain Nicos — Restaurant in Skiathos Municipality

On being seated waiter advised us there was a bit of wait... an understatement... had got to the point of just about to leave when the starters arrived. Hoped the food was worth the wait... cheese saganaki was grilled cheese of unknown origin. Mushrooms either tinned or frozen but certainly not fresh. Main course arrived just as starters where being cleared... bland tasteless and poor quality all round... wine awful too. Of all the greek restaurants islands and or resorts... this was the worst experience ever. Expected something special as a guy leaving told them how wonderful the food was and had hoped the wait would be worth while.... ...

Typically greek, remiiniscent of the 1980s. The owner masquerades as a sea captain which is a nice touch and quite quirky. Always welcoming and friendly. The food is not bad, portion sizes ok, but a little overpriced for what you get. Prices much the same as everywhere else, but not to the gastro standards of other places. Its good that they serve real meals, not just snacks, during the day. However, in the evening there are better...

We so wish we had found Nikos earlier rather than our second last night on Skiathos. Captain Niko is a real character and my children took a real shine to him. This is a family run business with father and son serving and proving to be true hosts. Mom does the cooking in the kitchen with some help .
