I've already reviewed the hotel but Green Park as a restaurant deserves a separate review as it caters not only for residents, but is also popular with visitors to the island who simply come for dinner.
It's part of a family run hotel and father does all of the cooking - and boy can he cook. The menu is mainly Greek fare and although we tend to only eat once or possibly twice somewhere during a week, the food was that good at Green Park that we had dinner there 4 times.
If you're unsure of something on the menu then your hosts will take the time to explain what a dish is (I had never heard of riganato before but Nicolas explained it to me, I ordered it and was bowled over by how good it was). The portions I would have to say are substantial. I had the mixed skewer on our final night and could happily have not eaten the following day, I was that full!
The walls of the restaurant are deservedly covered in awards that stretch back many years and the building and décor are all beautifully done. While we were there we saw several couples sidestepping their own hotel restaurants to visit Green Park (some of them more than once) and you can totally understand why.
Possibly not the cheapest restaurant on the island, but the quality and size of the portions, the wonderful service and the delightful surroundings make it more than worthwhile.
I'm salivating at the thought of that skewer just...
Read moreThe other reviews here hyped it too much. Beautiful place, but as soon as you get there it's like you're in a nun boardschool and the superior nun is Nikolas, for sure top 3 worse waiters I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. Nikolas doesn't want you to take pics of the place, or that your kid step on the holy mattresses they have there (although people sit there with their buns) and doesn't get happy if you say no to the boring bread they offer as appetizer when you get there (and that costs 1,30 euro each, what a joke). He also likes some costumers more than others, so if you're not lucky to be on Nikolas good side, you'll wait a lot.
The food is OK. Good moussaka, very boring stuffed aubergine. I still don't understand what is that they call a baklava there. You can get a better baklava anywhere else in the island.
Mother superior Nikolas made the whole experience just horrible. Will never...
Read moreI went there last night for dinner. As soon as we walked up to the restaurant, they already called us over as they served us bread and got our table ready. The staff were really nice and open to any questions we had and answered them well and in detail. It made me feel like I was in charge of what I wanted rather than at a lot of places where they are impatient and leave you waiting for ages. The service was incredibly fast, by far the fastest on the island. The staff were friendly, the food was brilliant and well seasoned and the atmosphere was just perfect. Will definitely be...
