Platanias Taverna & Bar — Restaurant in Skiathos Municipality

For many years we have visited this restaurant and had wonderful meals whilst holidaying on skiathos. We decided to pay it another visit during our stay this year. We were bitterly disappointed in the quality of food served to us this year. I had the veal which was just fatty skin served around a bone and was tasteless and inedible. Two of our party had chicken with mash and veg. It came out stone cold and the mash was made from a packet all runny and sloppy. To add insult to injury the portion sizes were very small. Both meals were inedible so we wrapped the chicken in a paper towel, to be taken away and given to the many stray cats on our way back to the apartment. We complained to the waiter who had no interest in why we did not enjoy our meals. He merely said you have eaten items off the plate to which we replied the meat is in the ladies handbags to be feed to the local cats. He did make a token gesture of a €20 euro deduction off the bill which was €141 euro. Sadly we will never return to this establishment again. one of the very few 1* restaurant experiences for me the lamb kleftiko was recommended by the waiter and it tasted like very very bland boiled meat, terrible asked to return the lamb (and was charged for it) and asked for a mousaka the mousaka came very very late and was bland, tasteless, unseasoned (was not charged for it) the tzatziki had very low fat yoghurt, too liquid service was very slow, hard to make the waiter come to our table, long wait time for anything we asked, they brought the wrong food to our table at first waiter asked me if I wanted them to give me anything else to eat but after two failed dishes I passed waiter was friendly and smiling wine was ok the tirokafteri was great and the shrimps were ok atmosphere was very nice, the restaurant is looking great and...

Last week, we visited the island of Skiathos to celebrate a family wedding. We were staying in a local hotel and used this bar as our base to meet in the evenings. The staff were great with us — very loud, very excited, and at times a little drunk English folk. Drinks and cocktails were great, and bar snacks were tasty. I didn’t personally eat in the restaurant, but I heard lots of positive feedback from people who did.

Great music, live singers, and a fantastic atmosphere. We made memories that will last a lifetime. If we’re ever lucky enough to return to Skiathos, we’ll certainly be paying Platanias Taverna & Bar a visit. I will recommend it to any friends visiting...
