Last week my wife and I went to this restaurant. I had reserved a table for two people outside, since we arrived at 8.30 PM they gave us a wide choice of where to sit. Seeing the tables we immediately noticed something shocking, on almost all the tables there were many dead midges scattered on the table. Truly a horrifying scene. So seeing the tables in these conditions we decide to sit inside. But the situation didn't change much. There was a small light on the table that I immediately knew was the problem. We start ordering and take a pasta dish with gorgonzola and as second courses a Caesar Salad and a Greek pizza. I explicitly told to the waiter to first bring us the pasta to divide for two and then the rest. Instead he immediately brings us the Caesar Salad and the pizza. I'm still annoyed that he didn't understand. While we were eating our dishes he brought us pasta with gorgonzola. It was clear that the waiter had not understood anything of what I had told him. The dishes were one worse than the other. The Caesar Salad tasted nothing like the original. The pizza was really badly cooked. The pasta had basically been on the table for a while and when we ate it it was all glued together and therefore inedible. For dessert the tiramisu which was passable. The service wasn't bad, the waiter assistants were more professional than the waiter himself. The choice to come to Maria was because I had read all very positive reviews about the restaurant and the food, especially the pizza. So why didn't all these people notice everything I noticed? But did they really eat so well that they even came back? Throughout the week, in the various restaurants I ate at, the bill always fluctuated between 50 and 60 Euros. Instead, at Maria's the bill for this delicious dinner was 70 Euros. I'm sorry to write all this about Maria, but unfortunately the evening and the dinner went like this. I sincerely hope they take action on the big problem of midges and improve the cuisine that says Italian but only on...
Read moreOmg what can i say. Super slow service keeping people waiting outside 3 empty tables inside couldn't keep up. I write this astonished at what Just happened. Sat with a really obviously wealthy set of customers 2 couples sat next to us. One lady after chain smoking 5 cigarettes in row before demolishing a pizza in 2 mins started to vomit after finishing eating. Vomited ON the table. too much to drink? Maybe but not a tourist. vomiting slowly for about 20 mins. Not instant..no one directed or suggested to to the toilet as you would because thats what you do and where you would go. Waiters just continued giving her napkins to throw up ON the table. NO ONE asked her to get to the loo as would your first instant just let her continue vomiting on the table in front of all the other customers. This was NOT instantaneous this was over 20 mins or so. So rich and intimidating to them they wouldn't move her just let her throw up in front of everyone eating the same pizzas. What a disgrace. We saw that same lady walking around skiathos Town 10 mins later like nothing had happened at all. Either a great ploy to get a free meal or pizza doesn't agree with her. Either way the restaurant handled the situation terribly. Don't give a clear plastic bag to a person to throw up in next to people eating. Get them to the loo or call an ambulance. NOT EVEN Acknowledged what had happened in there just gave you your bill no apologies. Madness...

✍️ By Trifan Dan
Sometimes you’re not just looking for food. You’re looking for a place that makes you feel welcome — like home, even when you’re far away. That’s exactly what I found at Maria’s Pizza in Skiathos.
On an island full of tavernas and restaurants, Maria stands out for two rare things: authentic flavors and genuine hospitality.
The pizza? Thin, crisp, and topped with fresh ingredients that actually taste real — not just look nice. The pasta and traditional dishes are made with the same care, and the portions are generous without cutting corners.
But the true secret ingredient is Maria and her team. Every guest is treated like a friend sitting down at the table, not just another tourist passing by. It’s the kind of place where you don’t just “eat a meal,” you live an experience.
The relaxed atmosphere, the lively terrace, and the local wine make it the perfect setting for a memorable Greek evening.
Personal Verdict
Maria’s Pizza is more than just a restaurant — it’s a reminder that the joy of dining lies in simplicity, soul, and people who put passion into everything they do.
If you’re visiting Skiathos and want an authentic experience, make sure to mark Maria’s Pizza on your map. You’ll leave with a full stomach and...
